Aprilia has launched the all-new SR 175 in India, marking the official replacement for the outgoing SR 160 in the brand’s scooter lineup. Priced at ₹1.26 lakh (ex-showroom, Maharashtra), the SR 175 brings a set of meaningful mechanical upgrades while retaining the signature sporty styling that the SR series is known for.

At the heart of the SR 175 is a larger 174.7 cc single-cylinder engine that produces 13.08 bhp at 7,200 rpm and 14.14 Nm of peak torque at 6,000 rpm. This engine is mated to a CVT gearbox and offers a slight bump in output over the SR 160, making it a more potent option in its class. The increase in power and torque enhances the scooter’s performance credentials, aligning better with the brand’s sporty image.

While the suspension setup remains unchanged—with telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear—the SR 175 continues to ride on 14-inch alloy wheels. Braking hardware is also carried over, featuring a 220 mm front disc brake paired with a rear drum brake, supported by a single-channel ABS for improved safety.

One of the key upgrades is in the instrument cluster. The SR 175 gets a new 5.5-inch colour TFT screen with Bluetooth connectivity, replacing the previous LCD unit. The display resembles the one seen on Aprilia’s RS 457 and Tuono 457 motorcycles. A USB charging port and full LED lighting add to the feature list, enhancing rider convenience.

In terms of design, the SR 175 stays true to the sharp and aggressive lines of the SR 160, with only minor visual updates. These include new decals and two new colour options – Matte Prismatic Dark and Glossy Tech White – giving it a refreshed appearance without straying from its sporty DNA. The familiar design elements such as twin LED headlamps, flat footboard, upswept exhaust, and a single-piece seat with grab rail have been retained.

Despite the subtle visual tweaks, the technical improvements under the skin give the SR 175 an edge, particularly for enthusiasts looking for a spirited urban ride with performance and style. It now stands as a stronger contender against rivals like the Hero Xoom 160 and the Yamaha Aerox 155 in the performance scooter space.
