Mercedes-Benz CLA Electric debuts on Indian website ahead of launch. A class of its own—sporty, digital, and all-electric—offering up to 792 km range, MMA platform, and MBUX Superscreen.
Mercedes-Benz has officially listed the all-electric CLA with EQ Technology on its Indian website, signaling an impending launch expected around August 2025. This model will act as the entry point into the German automaker’s electric vehicle (EV) lineup in India.
Built on the new Mercedes-Benz Modular Architecture (MMA) — a platform specifically designed for compact electric vehicles — the new-generation CLA Electric introduces significant advancements in both design and technology. It will be available globally in two variants: the CLA 250+ with EQ Technology and the CLA 350 4MATIC with EQ Technology.
Design and Dimensions
The CLA Electric adopts a sportier, more aerodynamic exterior with increased overall dimensions, contributing to a larger cabin and greater road presence. Signature design elements include the star-pattern LED tail lamps, a newly styled grille featuring Mercedes Tri-Star accents, aggressive body sculpting, and a coupe-inspired roofline. It rides on 18-inch alloy wheels, further reinforcing its performance-oriented character.
Interior and Features
Inside, the CLA Electric is equipped with the latest MBUX Superscreen — a wide dashboard layout that integrates three high-resolution displays: a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14.6-inch infotainment screen, and a 14-inch screen for the front passenger. The system runs on the new MB.OS (Mercedes-Benz Operating System), offering advanced features including over-the-air updates, AI-powered voice assistance, and seamless integration of third-party apps.
Luxury features include sports seats, a panoramic glass roof, ambient lighting with multiple color options, multi-zone climate control, ventilated and power-adjustable front seats, and a wireless charging pad. The vehicle also offers a comprehensive suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) for enhanced safety.
Performance and Charging
The CLA Electric is powered by an 85 kWh battery pack based on an 800-volt electrical architecture. It supports ultra-fast charging of up to 320 kW, enabling a claimed range of over 300 km with just 10 minutes of charging. Under the WLTP cycle, the maximum driving range is rated between 771 and 792 km, depending on the variant.

- CLA 350 4MATIC with EQ Technology:
- Power: 349 bhp

Both rear-wheel and all-wheel-drive options are expected to be available.
Digital Experience and MB.OS
The newly developed MB.OS integrates infotainment, powertrain, and driver assistance systems under a unified architecture. The chip-to-cloud platform allows for continual updates and additional features via on-demand subscriptions. It also enhances personalization with AI-driven functions, including an intuitive MBUX Virtual Assistant capable of empathetic, conversational interactions.

Pricing and Competition
The CLA Electric is anticipated to be priced at around ₹65 lakh (ex-showroom). In India, it will compete with other premium EVs like the BYD Seal, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and Volvo C40 Recharge. It will also be considered a battery-electric alternative to traditional internal combustion sedans such as the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe and Audi A4.
