Bajaj Auto has expanded its electric scooter portfolio with the launch of the Chetak 3503, the most budget-friendly offering from the brand’s newly introduced Chetak 35 Series. Priced at Rs 1.10 lakh (ex-showroom), the 3503 undercuts the top-spec 3501 by around Rs 20,000.

Bajaj unveiled the Chetak 35 Series in December 2024, introducing three variants: 3501, 3502, and 3503. Initially, only the prices of the top-end 3501 and mid-tier 3502 were announced. Now, with the entry-level 3503 variant officially launched, buyers have a more affordable option within the Chetak 35 Series. For comparison, the Chetak 3501 is priced at Rs 1.30 lakh, while the Chetak 3502 costs Rs 1.22 lakh (ex-showroom).

Affordability Comes with Feature Trade-Offs

To achieve a lower price, the Chetak 3503 comes with fewer features compared to the other variants in the series. However, it still offers key functionalities such as a colour LCD instrument cluster, Bluetooth-enabled smartphone connectivity, hill hold assist, music control, call management, and ride modes like Eco and Sport. LED headlights are also part of the package.

Some notable features that have been omitted to cut costs include the front disc brake and a touchscreen display. Despite these changes, the 3503 retains the newly developed chassis, offering 35 litres of under-seat storage, and continues with the metal body construction that Chetak is known for.

Battery, Performance, and Range

The Chetak 3503 is powered by the same 3.5 kWh battery pack found in the 3501 and 3502 models. To differentiate the base variant, Bajaj has slightly reduced the performance, limiting the top speed to 63 km/h. On the upside, this adjustment helps in delivering a slightly better claimed range of 155 kilometres on a full charge.

Charging speeds are modest, with the battery reaching 80% in about 3 hours and 25 minutes. While the 3503 misses out on some features like sequential turn indicators and front disc brakes, it still benefits from the improved chassis design of the 35 Series.

Colours and Competition

The Chetak 3503 is offered in four color options: Indigo Blue, Brooklyn Black, Cyber White, and Matt Grey. It will compete with other affordable electric scooters in the market, such as the Ola S1X+, Ather Rizta S, and TVS iQube 3.4 kWh.

Bookings for the Bajaj Chetak 3503 are now open, and deliveries are scheduled to begin in the first week of May.
