BMW Motorrad is preparing to launch the F 450 GS in India, with the adventure bike recently spotted testing on Indian roads for the first time. The motorcycle was earlier showcased as a concept at the 2025 Auto Expo, following its global debut at EICMA 2024. A production-ready version is expected to arrive by the end of 2025.

With the discontinuation of the G 310 R and G 310 GS in India due to the cost of upgrading to the latest OBD-2B emission norms, BMW Motorrad appears set to fill that gap with the F 450 GS. The recent test mule was seen near the TVS facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, giving a glimpse of what the production-spec bike will offer.

Design and Styling

The BMW F 450 GS takes design cues from the larger R 1300 GS. It retains the adventure-focused stance seen on the concept model, featuring a compact windscreen and a prominent beak-style front fender. However, instead of the cross-spoke wheels showcased on the concept, the test bike was fitted with alloy wheels, resembling the setup used on the G 310 GS.

The upcoming bike is expected to get a 19-inch front wheel, with suspension duties handled by fully adjustable upside-down forks at the front and a rear monoshock with load damping. While the concept version had a claimed weight of 175 kg, the production model is likely to be slightly heavier. Knuckle guards from the concept are also likely to be part of the final version.

Engine and Performance

Powering the BMW F 450 GS will be a new 450cc liquid-cooled, twin-cylinder engine delivering 48 bhp. While torque figures haven’t been disclosed yet, the engine is expected to offer strong mid-range performance suited for both on-road and off-road riding. The motor will be paired with a 6-speed gearbox, and will come equipped with a slipper and assist clutch as standard.

Expected Launch Timeline and Pricing

The BMW F 450 GS is expected to make its market debut in India in the final quarter of 2025. It will be locally manufactured at TVS Motor Company’s facility in Hosur. Once launched, it will be positioned below the BMW F 900 GS and priced in the range of Rs 4 – 5 lakh (ex-showroom).

When it arrives, the F 450 GS will compete with the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, KTM 390 Adventure, and Honda NX500 — all prominent names in the mid-weight adventure touring segment.
