Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has laid out an ambitious product strategy for the Indian market, announcing plans to roll out 26 new models by the end of FY2030. The lineup will include 20 internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles and six electric vehicles (EVs), consisting of brand-new models, full model changes, and updated versions of existing cars.

Unsoo Kim, Managing Director of HMIL, said the company is also preparing to introduce strong hybrid vehicles as part of its eco-friendly approach. “These aggressive and strategic launch plans demonstrate Hyundai Motor India’s strong commitment to innovation, market responsiveness & delivering sustained value to our customers,” he stated.

The automaker confirmed that further details regarding its hybrid vehicle plans will be shared during its Investor Day in September 2025.

Kim added, “We remain steadfast in expanding a well-balanced portfolio across ICE and eco-friendly technologies, to cater to diverse customer needs across segments.”

He further said, “In addition to ongoing product interventions and updates, we are excited to announce that we will be launching 26 products. This will include a mix of new models, full model changes & product enhancements, by the end of financial year 2030. This will comprise 20 from ICE and 6 from EV segment. Additionally, we shall be introducing new ecofriendly powertrains like hybrids.”

Speaking on the product roadmap, Tarun Garg, Chief Operating Officer, HMIL, said the key focus area will continue to be SUVs due to their strong market demand. “The prime focus will definitely be on SUVs, as we have clearly seen a strong customer preference for them. EVs are also slowly catching up, and we have a robust localization plan that will further support the introduction of these EVs,” Garg noted.

While EV adoption in India is still at an early stage compared to global markets, Hyundai expects strong growth in this space. Garg mentioned that EV penetration has risen from 2.4% to around 3.4% following the launch of the Creta EV and is projected to increase to 13–14% by 2030.

Currently, Hyundai’s EV portfolio includes the IONIQ 5 in the premium segment and the Creta EV in the mid-size SUV space. In FY25, the company sold 3,969 EVs, making up just 1% of its overall sales.

“Currently, we offer the IONIQ 5 in the premium EV segment and the Creta EV in the mid-size SUV segment. We clearly see opportunities across categories, including below the Creta segment, which we are actively evaluating,” Garg added.

Garg also revealed that Hyundai plans to launch eight new models over the next couple of years, with SUVs remaining a core focus area.

This aggressive product push comes at a time when rivals Mahindra & Mahindra and Tata Motors have overtaken Hyundai in the Indian passenger vehicle market. In April 2025, Mahindra sold 52,330 units domestically, compared to Hyundai’s 44,374 units, securing the second spot in overall PV sales.

Looking ahead to FY26, HMIL expects domestic demand to remain weak and aims to drive growth through exports. The company is targeting a 7–8% increase in export volumes in FY26.

To support its future plans, Hyundai has allocated Rs 7,000 crore in capital expenditure for FY26. Around 40% of this will go towards expanding its manufacturing facility in Pune, while 25% will be invested in strengthening its product lineup.

Currently, Hyundai sells only the IONIQ 5 and Creta Electric in the Indian market. Other models like the IONIQ 6 e-sedan and IONIQ 9 flagship SUV were showcased at the Auto Expo. Reports suggest that the next-generation Creta and a new three-row premium SUV positioned between the Alcazar and Tucson could debut with hybrid powertrains by 2027.

Hyundai’s upcoming electric range may also include the global Inster EV-based small SUV, expected as early as next year. A mid-life update for the Creta Electric is also likely in 2027.

The ICE lineup will continue to evolve as well, with updates expected for models like the Grand i10 Nios, i20, and others. First in line is the next-generation Venue, anticipated to launch before the end of this year. It will feature several design and feature enhancements both inside and out.
