2026 Toyota RAV4 will make its global debut on May 21, featuring a bold new design, upgraded features, and a range of electrified powertrain options built on the TNGA-K platform.

Toyota has officially confirmed that the next-generation RAV4 will be unveiled on May 21, ending weeks of teasers and speculation. The 2026 RAV4, now in its sixth generation, brings a comprehensive redesign, fresh technology updates, and a more rugged appeal. Although the new model isn’t expected to arrive in Indian showrooms any time soon, its global debut marks a significant evolution for Toyota’s popular SUV.
Design: Bold New Identity with Hammerhead Styling

The upcoming RAV4 gets a striking new look that aligns with Toyota’s modern design direction. It features the brand’s “Hammerhead” design language—giving it a sharper and more assertive presence. The front gets C-shaped LED headlamps, a sculpted bonnet, and squared-off wheel arches for a bolder stance. At the rear, a full-width blacked-out light bar connects vertically stacked LED taillights, with the RAV4 badge prominently displayed below the Toyota logo.

Variant-Specific Styling

Toyota has teased at least two distinct versions of the SUV. One is an off-road-ready trim that includes roof rails, chunky six-spoke black alloy wheels, and a robust front bumper with matte black accents. The second is a sportier GR Sport variant, which adds an aggressive grille design, a sculpted lower bumper, and a rally-inspired rear wing—geared more toward those seeking a performance-inspired design.
Platform and Powertrains

The next-generation Toyota RAV4 is based on the updated TNGA-K platform, which also underpins models like the Camry. While the architecture remains familiar, it allows for the integration of more efficient and electrified powertrain options. This setup supports a range of powertrain options, including a 2.5-litre NA petrol engine, a 2.5-litre petrol hybrid, and a plug-in hybrid variant.
