Xiaomi 16 is expected to launch in late September 2025 with Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, a 6.8-inch display, 50MP triple cameras, a 6,800mAh battery, and IP69 rating. Here’s what we know so far.

Xiaomi is preparing to launch its next-generation flagship smartphone, the Xiaomi 16, later this year. While the official unveiling is expected around late September 2025—shortly after Qualcomm announces the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 (rumored to be called Snapdragon 8 Elite 2)—an early look at its possible design has surfaced through a new CAD-based sketch shared by tipster MajinBu.

From the sketch, the Xiaomi 16 retains a flat-edge frame but adds slightly curved corners for better ergonomics. The rear camera module continues to follow a rectangular layout with a slight bump and houses a triple-camera setup along with an LED flash. Early mockups also hint at a two-tone rear finish, though it remains unclear whether this will make it to the final version.
On the imaging front, the Xiaomi 16 is expected to carry forward the 50MP triple rear camera system seen in its predecessor. The display is said to measure between 6.32 and 6.36 inches, making it a compact flagship by current standards.

Xiaomi recently confirmed that its upcoming flagship models will continue using Snapdragon 8 series chips, strongly suggesting the Xiaomi 16 will feature Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 SoC.
One of the more surprising upgrades could be in the battery department. Reports suggest the Xiaomi 16 might come with a 6,800mAh battery and support for 100W fast charging—marking a significant leap from the Xiaomi 15’s 5,240mAh battery and even surpassing the OnePlus 13T’s 6,260mAh unit.

In terms of durability, the Xiaomi 16 may offer improved water and dust protection. Unlike the Xiaomi 15, which had an IP68 rating, the new device is rumored to feature an IP69 rating.
The Xiaomi 16 series, including the Xiaomi 16 and Xiaomi 16 Pro, is expected to debut first in China around September 2025. As always, more concrete details should emerge closer to the official launch.
