Kia has introduced the Carens Clavis in the domestic market at a starting price of Rs. 11.49 lakh (ex-showroom). Positioned as a more premium version of the standard Carens, the Clavis brings several upgrades in design, features, and comfort. It is available in both six- and seven-seater configurations and will be sold alongside the existing Carens, which is currently offered in a single Prestige (O) variant.

Design and Exterior Enhancements

The Carens Clavis adopts Kia’s ‘Opposites United’ design language and receives noticeable styling changes. These include new LED headlamps, connected LED tail lamps, satin chrome detailing, and a glossy Ivory Silver finish. It also features newly designed 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, giving it a sharper look compared to the regular Carens.

Interior and Technology

Inside, the Carens Clavis offers a dual-display setup with a 26.7 cm digital instrument cluster and a 26.7 cm infotainment touchscreen. The upholstery is finished in a dual-tone blue and beige combination. Kia has also added segment-first features such as a walk-in lever and one-touch tumble function for the second-row seat, making access to the third row easier.

Other premium features include ventilated front seats, a power-adjustable driver seat, a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, a Bose eight-speaker sound system, ambient lighting with 64 colour options, and a smart air purifier integrated into the seatbacks. Roof-mounted AC vents further enhance comfort for all passengers.

Safety and ADAS

Safety has been a focus, with the Clavis coming equipped with Level 2 ADAS, offering 20 advanced driver-assist features. Additionally, the MPV gets 18 passive safety features including six airbags, ESC, a 360-degree camera, electric parking brake, and rear occupant alert.

Powertrain Options

The Carens Clavis is offered with three engine choices:

  • 1.5L NA Petrol: Produces 115 PS and 144 Nm, paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox.
  • 1.5L Turbo Petrol (GDi): Delivers 160 PS and 253 Nm. Available with a 6-speed manual, 6-speed iMT, or 7-speed DCT.
  • 1.5L Diesel (CRDi VGT): Offers 116 PS and 250 Nm, and can be had with a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic.

After-Sales and Warranty

Kia is offering a range of ownership programs for the Clavis including extended warranties (up to six years), roadside assistance, and even minor damage repairs under the brand’s ‘Scratch Care’ initiative.

Availability and Deliveries

Bookings for the Carens Clavis began on 9 May. Deliveries are scheduled to start next week. It will be sold alongside the existing Carens MPV, offering buyers more choice depending on their needs and budget.
