BMW has announced several updates for its model lineup as part of its Summer 2025 rollout, with a strong focus on improved efficiency, added features, and digital enhancements. One of the key highlights is the upgrade to the all-electric BMW i4, which now comes with new power electronics designed to improve energy efficiency and extend range.

From July 2025, the i4 eDrive35 and eDrive40 variants will receive upgraded power electronics that use silicon carbide semiconductors. This change helps reduce energy consumption by about 4.5 percent and increases the driving range—by up to 22 kilometers depending on the variant and equipment. The i4 eDrive35 will now offer a WLTP range of up to 428 kilometers, while the i4 eDrive40 can go up to 510 kilometers on a full charge.

BMW is also introducing a new top variant of the i4, the i4 M60 xDrive. This new model delivers 601 horsepower (442 kW), which is 57 hp more than the previous M version. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.7 seconds and offers a WLTP driving range of up to 433 kilometers. It consumes an average of 20.9 kWh per 100 kilometers.

The BMW Digital Key is being made more accessible across various models. With a new pairing method using a Setup Card and the My BMW app, it’s now easier to connect your smartphone and set up the key. Owners can share the digital key with up to 18 people and even enable drive authorization features that can limit speed or acceleration for inexperienced drivers.

BMW is also introducing a complimentary global warranty on high-voltage batteries in all its electric vehicles. Starting April 1, 2025, this warranty covers 8 years or up to 160,000 kilometers. If the battery’s capacity drops below 70 percent during this period, BMW will either repair or replace the battery at no cost. This applies not only to new vehicles but also to used BMW EVs that still fall within the warranty limits.

As part of the Summer 2025 update, more BMW models will come with features like heated seats and Comfort Access as standard equipment. The BMW Configurator will also offer a wider range of BMW Individual paint finishes. New colour options have been added for models like the BMW X1, X2, and 2 Series Active Tourer, while other models are also getting feature upgrades. The 1 Series and 2 Series Gran Coupé now come with heated front seats and an alarm system as standard. The BMW X3 gets new interior trims, and the BMW iX adds a new Frozen Pure Grey metallic paint finish.

BMW’s iDrive system is also getting smarter. New functions include improved voice control across more languages and support for video conferencing via Zoom through the BMW Digital Premium package. In select countries, users can also link their Amazon Alexa accounts to the BMW voice assistant for added convenience.

While the updated i4 M60 xDrive hasn’t launched in India yet, it’s expected to arrive soon after international deliveries begin.
