Lexus has started deliveries of the LX 500d SUV in India, priced from Rs 3 crore. Offered in Urban and Overtrail trims, it competes with luxury rivals like the Maybach GLS and Range Rover, featuring a powerful V6 diesel engine and top-tier features.

Lexus India has officially begun deliveries of its flagship SUV, the LX 500d, across the country. Launched earlier in March this year, the luxury SUV is now reaching customers and has already received a strong market response. With its commanding road presence, luxurious cabin, and powerful engine, the LX 500d enters the Indian market to take on rivals such as the BMW XM, Mercedes-Maybach GLS, and the Range Rover.
The Lexus LX 500d is offered in two variants — the standard Urban and the more off-road-focused Overtrail edition. While the Urban variant is priced at Rs 3 crore, the Overtrail edition carries a slightly higher price tag of Rs 3.12 crore (both prices ex-showroom). Based on the same platform as the Toyota Land Cruiser LC 300, the LX 500d shares its underpinnings and powertrain but adds the refinement and luxury Lexus is known for.

Powering the LX 500d is a 3.3-litre twin-turbo V6 diesel engine that produces 304 bhp and 700 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 10-speed torque converter automatic transmission that sends power to all four wheels. Lexus offers five driving modes: Normal, Eco, Comfort, Sport S, and Sport S+, allowing drivers to tailor the SUV’s behavior to different terrains and preferences.

In terms of features, the LX 500d leaves no room for compromise. It comes equipped with front-seat massage functions, heated and ventilated seats in both rows, 4-zone climate control, a 25-speaker Mark Levinson 3D sound system, and dual 11.6-inch entertainment displays for rear passengers. It also includes wireless Apple CarPlay and wired Android Auto, a single-pane sunroof, and air bladder-based seat refresh systems for added comfort during long journeys.
Safety is another strong suit of the LX 500d. It gets 10 airbags, traction control, trailer sway control, hill start assist, and the advanced Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 suite, which includes Level 2 ADAS features like blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, lane departure and trace assist, pre-collision system, safe exit assist, and adaptive high beam headlights. For off-road performance, it gets adaptive suspension, active height control, a center differential lock, and in the Overtrail edition, both front and rear differential locks.
