Skoda has officially confirmed that the high-performance Octavia RS will make a comeback in India in 2025. This confirmation comes from Ashish Gupta, the newly appointed brand director for Skoda India, in an interview with Autocar India. While a specific launch timeline hasn’t been revealed, the Octavia RS is expected to hit Indian roads by the festive season later this year.

The upcoming Octavia RS will be brought to India as a completely built unit (CBU), and with that comes a premium price tag — likely north of ₹50 lakh (ex-showroom). Enthusiasts who’ve long waited for the return of this performance sedan will be pleased, especially considering the quick sellout of the 200 units of the previous-gen Octavia RS 245 in India, despite its steep pricing.

Under the hood, the new-gen Octavia RS is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 265hp and 370Nm of torque. The motor is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT), offering both strong performance and refined drivability. This is the same engine that also powers the Volkswagen Golf GTI — another well-known performance model.

Visually, the Octavia RS retains its sporty persona with signature RS design elements and an aggressive stance. It’s expected to feature a sportier suspension setup, RS-specific styling touches, and the performance-focused hardware to match its badging.

While Skoda has greenlit the Octavia RS for India, plans for other CBU models — including the Superb diesel, Octavia diesel, and Kodiaq RS — have been put on hold for now.

The return of the Octavia RS is certainly good news for performance car enthusiasts in the country. However, with limited allocations and a premium price tag, this sedan will likely cater to a niche audience. That said, its loyal fanbase and proven performance credentials could see the model enjoy strong demand once again.
