Mahindra Scorpio N Z4 AT Launched at ₹17.39 Lakh

Mahindra has expanded the Scorpio N lineup with the launch of the new Z4 automatic variant, now making it the most affordable automatic version of the SUV. The petrol Z4 AT is priced at ₹17.39 lakh, while the diesel version costs ₹17.86 lakh (ex-showroom). With this update, Mahindra has made the automatic transmission more accessible to buyers who previously had to opt for higher trims to get this option.

Until now, the entry point for automatic versions began from the Z6 diesel (₹18.91 lakh) and Z8 Select petrol (₹19.06 lakh), but the new Z4 AT trims undercut these by ₹1.05 lakh and ₹1.67 lakh respectively. The Z4 trim now offers five powertrain configurations: Petrol MT, Petrol AT, Diesel 2WD MT, Diesel 2WD AT, and Diesel 4WD MT. However, the Diesel 4WD AT option remains exclusive to the Z8 and Z8L trims.

Mechanically, there are no changes under the hood. The 2.0-litre mStallion turbo-petrol engine continues to deliver 203 hp and up to 380 Nm of torque (370 Nm with MT), while the 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine is available in two tunes—132 hp and 300 Nm for the lower spec, and 172 hp with 370 Nm (MT) or 400 Nm (AT) for the higher spec. A six-speed manual and a six-speed torque converter automatic are offered, with RWD standard and a 4WD option available on the diesel Z4 (E) trim.

Visually and feature-wise, the Scorpio N Z4 trim sticks to a practical seven-seat layout. On the exterior, it features 17-inch steel wheels with covers, dual-beam halogen reflector headlamps, LED turn indicators on the ORVMs, roof rails, a rear spoiler, and LED tail lamps. Inside the cabin, the Z4 gets fabric upholstery, a multifunction steering wheel with audio and cruise controls, 2nd row AC vents, and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wired Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Comfort and convenience features include electrically adjustable ORVMs, power windows, USB ports, one-touch tumble for the second row, fold-and-tumble third-row seats, engine start/stop button, and a roof lamp for both first and second rows.

In terms of safety, the Z4 automatic variants are equipped with dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control (ESC), hill hold and descent control, rear parking sensors, ventilated disc brakes on all four wheels, ISOFIX child seat mounts, seatbelt pretensioners, and three-point seatbelts with reminders for all seats.

While the Z4 AT brings affordability and essential features, it does miss out on a few premium additions such as ventilated seats, dual-zone climate control, Sony premium audio system, Adrenox connectivity, Alexa integration, and a sunroof. Some advanced safety tech like driver drowsiness detection, auto-dimming IRVM, and TPMS are also not available on this trim.
