Hero Vida VX2 Electric Scooter Teased Ahead of July 1 Launch

Hero MotoCorp is preparing to expand its electric two-wheeler lineup with the launch of the new Vida VX2 on July 1. Teasers have been steadily revealing bits of the scooter, and the latest one gives us the clearest look yet at the upcoming model. Positioned as a more affordable alternative to the existing Vida V2, the VX2 aims to tap into the growing demand for entry-level electric scooters in India.

The Vida VX2 is expected to carry a price tag around ₹1 lakh (ex-showroom), making it one of the most budget-friendly EVs from Hero so far. The scooter is reportedly based on the Vida Z model that was showcased earlier in Europe, but it has been tweaked for the Indian market with a simpler, more practical design. Spy shots of the production version suggest features such as a flat single-piece seat, wraparound LED headlamps, and a compact display.

Hero is likely to offer the VX2 in multiple variants. One of these, the top-spec VX2 Plus, was recently spotted at a dealership finished in matte yellow. The “Plus” badge hints at a larger battery pack, though the exact specifications are yet to be confirmed. Hero currently offers 2.2kWh and 3.4kWh battery options in its lineup, and it remains to be seen whether these will be carried forward or replaced with new configurations tailored to the VX2’s price positioning.

Mechanically, the VX2 is expected to share its motor, electronics, and platform with the Vida V2 to keep development and production costs in check. However, to meet the budget segment’s expectations, Hero may skip certain premium features. For instance, the VX2 could come with a physical key ignition instead of a keyless setup.

The pricing strategy is expected to be aggressive, undercutting the Vida V2, which currently starts at ₹74,000 and goes up to ₹1.15 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). If Hero manages to price the VX2 below ₹1 lakh, it would directly rival scooters like the newly launched Bajaj Chetak 3001, priced at ₹99,990 (ex-showroom), and the upcoming entry-level version of the TVS iQube.

More details, including full specifications and variant-wise pricing, will be revealed on July 1.
