Nothing Phone 3 is launching on July 1 with a new Glyph Matrix interface, replacing the earlier Glyph Interface found on previous models. It will feature the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chip, long-term software support, and upgraded hardware.

Nothing has officially confirmed that its upcoming flagship smartphone, the Phone 3, will debut a completely new rear LED interface called the Glyph Matrix. The announcement came via a teaser post on X (formerly Twitter), where the brand stated: “When light becomes language…Introducing the Glyph Matrix.” The Phone 3 will launch globally on July 1, alongside Nothing’s first audio product in the segment, Headphone 1.
The Glyph Matrix will replace the earlier Glyph Interface found on the Nothing Phone 1 and Phone 2. Unlike its predecessors, which featured segmented LED strips to notify users of calls, messages, and other alerts, the new interface appears to adopt a dot matrix LED design, situated on the top right portion of the rear panel. While its exact functionality remains under wraps, the Matrix-style LEDs may serve similar purposes—like showing charging status, call alerts, and app-based notifications—but in a more dynamic and customizable layout.

Earlier this, Nothing’s founder Carl Pei had tweeted that they had “killed the glyph interface,” sparking speculation that the company was moving away from its signature LED-based design. However, with the Glyph Matrix now confirmed, it’s clear that Nothing is evolving its hardware approach while doubling down on functionality and user experience.
This shift in design philosophy is matched by a significant performance upgrade. The Nothing Phone 3 is confirmed to be powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset, making it the most powerful Nothing smartphone to date. Alongside this, the company has promised five years of Android OS updates and seven years of security patches, bringing long-term software support in line with top-tier flagships.
With the official reveal just days away, Nothing is expected to release more teasers and specifications ahead of the July 1 launch event.
Stay tuned for more updates as the launch nears.
