MG is all set to reveal its new electric SUV, expected to rival the Tesla Model Y, at the Goodwood Festival of Speed on July 10. Likely to be based on the IM6 crossover, the EV could offer up to 767 bhp and ultra-fast 396kW charging.

MG Motor is gearing up to debut its next major electric vehicle, widely expected to rival the Tesla Model Y, at the upcoming Goodwood Festival of Speed on July 10, 2025. The announcement was made through a teaser image shared on MG’s official social media channels, accompanied by the message: “All will be revealed” and a reference to “the beginning of our next chapter.”
While the teaser does not explicitly name the model, the silhouette hints at what appears to be the IM6 crossover, a vehicle developed under the IM brand — a premium electric division jointly backed by MG’s parent company SAIC, along with Alibaba and Zhangjiang Hi-Tech. There is strong speculation that this model, or a version of it, could be launched in the UK under the MG badge, following the brand’s strategy in markets like Australia.

In its home market of China, the IM6 is available with high-performance specifications, including a version that delivers up to 767 bhp, enabling a 0–100 km/h acceleration time of just 3.5 seconds. It also benefits from 800V electrical architecture, supporting ultra-fast charging speeds of up to 396 kW. This allows the battery to charge from 30% to 80% in just over 15 minutes — putting it among the fastest-charging EVs currently on offer.

The upcoming launch underscores MG’s growing ambition in the premium EV space. The brand has already introduced models like the Cyberster electric roadster and the Cyber X concept, both aimed at elevating its market positioning. Additionally, MG is preparing to replace its current ZS EV with the upcoming S5 EV, further signaling its intent to modernize and diversify its electric SUV lineup.
