Fairphone (Gen. 6) debuts with modular design, Snapdragon 7s Gen 3, a 5-year warranty, and Android 15. Pre-orders open in Europe starting at €599.

Fairphone has officially unveiled the sixth generation of its modular smartphone — the Fairphone (Gen. 6) — continuing its mission of ethical production and long-term sustainability. Succeeding the 2023 Fairphone 5, the latest model focuses on durability, repairability, and extended software support, while offering modern hardware upgrades and thoughtful customization.
The Fairphone (Gen. 6) features a slim and lightweight profile, measuring 9.6mm in thickness and weighing 193g. Built with a recycled matte composite body, the phone is protected by Gorilla Glass 7i and is rated IP55 for water and dust resistance, along with drop protection tested to military standards.
One of the key highlights is its modular, glue-free design. The device includes 12 easily swappable components, allowing users to repair or replace parts with minimal effort. Even the backplate offers added utility, doubling as a case, finger loop, cardholder, or lanyard — giving users greater personalization options.

On the front, the phone houses a 6.3-inch Full HD+ LTPO OLED display with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, capable of dropping as low as 10Hz to save power. With peak brightness up to 1400 nits, the screen also supports PWM and DC dimming for eye comfort, making it suitable for prolonged use.
Powering the device is the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 processor, paired with 8GB LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage, expandable via microSD card up to 2TB — a rare and welcome feature in 2024’s smartphone landscape. The phone is equipped with a removable 4415mAh battery that supports 30W fast charging, delivering 50% charge in just 25 minutes. However, the charger is sold separately.

In terms of photography, the Fairphone (Gen. 6) includes a 50MP Sony Lytia 700C main sensor with OIS, accompanied by a 13MP ultra-wide lens with autofocus and macro capability. The front camera is a 32MP Samsung sensor with autofocus and screen flash, offering high-resolution selfies and video calls.
The phone runs on Android 15 out of the box and guarantees at least seven major software updates through 2033, an impressive commitment to longevity. It also comes with a 5-year warranty, reinforcing Fairphone’s dedication to sustainable ownership.

Connectivity options are robust, with dual SIM support (nano + eSIM), 5G, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4 LE, NFC, and multiple satellite navigation systems. Security is handled via a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and face unlock. Additional features include stereo speakers, support for aptX and other Bluetooth audio codecs, and a special Moments Mode that limits the interface to five core apps for distraction-free use. The phone also supports Google’s Gemini AI assistant for added functionality.
