Xiaomi YU7 electric SUV series launched in China with up to 835km range, flagship tech features, and competitive pricing to rival Tesla Model Y.

Xiaomi has officially launched its latest electric SUV lineup — the Xiaomi YU7 series — in China, marking a significant push into the automotive market. With this launch, Xiaomi is positioning itself to compete directly with major players like Tesla and BYD, offering a blend of high performance, tech-centric features, and competitive pricing.
Unveiled during a high-profile event in Beijing, the YU7 was introduced by Xiaomi founder Lei Jun, who openly compared it to Tesla’s Model Y. The starting price for the YU7 Standard is set at 253,500 yuan (around USD 35,320 / INR 30.30 lakh), undercutting the Model Y’s base price and placing it strategically between competitors like the BYD Tang L SUV.

Three variants are available — Standard, Pro, and Max — all of which come with ultra-long range batteries. The Standard model features rear-wheel drive powered by a single motor producing 235kW and 528Nm of torque, capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.88 seconds. It is equipped with a 96.3 kWh battery that offers an impressive 835 km of range (CLTC), the best in its segment.
The YU7 Pro upgrades to a dual-motor all-wheel drive setup, with a 365kW output, 690Nm torque, and 0–100 km/h time of just 4.27 seconds. It shares the same 96.3 kWh battery but delivers a slightly lower 760 km range due to the AWD system.
The top-end YU7 Max model boasts peak performance figures with 508kW of power, 866Nm of torque, and a 0–100 km/h time of just 3.23 seconds (2.98s excluding starting time). It also gets a larger 101.7 kWh battery with a 770 km range, making it one of the top performers in the all-wheel drive EV category.
Xiaomi is offering the YU7 series in a wide range of color options, expanding from the original four — Basalt Gray, Lava Orange, Titanium Silver, and Emerald Green — to include five more: Pearl White, Ocean Blue, Dusk Purple, Shadow Teal, and Dawn Pink. Pearl White stands out with a bluish pearlescent finish, while the others incorporate metallic flakes for a premium, light-reflective effect.

Inside the cabin, Xiaomi has focused heavily on technology. The SUV features a large central touchscreen along with a full-width “HyperVision” display under the windshield, complemented by a smaller driver display behind the wheel. Additional highlights include LiDAR support, a built-in 4.6L refrigerator, 25-speaker audio system, dual 80W fast-charging ports, and a total of 1,970 liters of cargo space, including a 141L front trunk.
Powering all this is Xiaomi’s commitment to smart mobility. The company has pledged 200 billion yuan over the next five years to support its EV ambitions, spanning development in hardware, software, and intelligent driving systems.
