Mahindra has teased the Vision.T concept ahead of its August 15 debut, hinting at an evolved version of the Thar.e electric SUV. Here’s what to expect from the Freedom NU showcase.

Mahindra has officially released a teaser for its upcoming Vision.T concept SUV, set to make its world premiere on August 15, 2025, during the brand’s annual Independence Day showcase event in Mumbai. The concept hints at being a more advanced iteration of the Thar.e electric SUV that was revealed two years ago, continuing Mahindra’s push into future-ready off-road electric mobility.

From what the teaser reveals, the Vision.T concept carries the same bold, boxy silhouette as the Thar.e, with design elements like a wide stance, flared wheel arches, an upright windscreen, a muscular bonnet, and aggressive off-road-ready M/T tyres. Its short front overhang and chunky proportions signal serious off-road intent — possibly indicating Mahindra’s continued ambition to build capable adventure-ready EVs.

The “T” in Vision.T has sparked speculation, with many believing it represents “Thar”, and could hint at a new family of Thar-based vehicles. Mahindra recently trademarked several Thar-related names such as Thar Armada, Thar Cult, Thar Savannah, and Thar Centurion, suggesting a broader portfolio of lifestyle SUVs may be on the cards.
The Thar.e, which debuted in August 2023, was based on Mahindra’s INGLO P1 platform tailored for electric off-roaders. While no details have been confirmed yet, it’s expected that the Vision.T will be built on an evolution of this architecture, previewing what a production-ready version might look like.

Alongside the Vision.T, Mahindra plans to showcase at least four more concept vehicles and a brand-new vehicle platform during the event, which will be called Freedom NU. This new platform is expected to be a multi-powertrain architecture supporting petrol, diesel, electric, and even hybrid systems. It remains to be seen whether Mahindra will go with full plug-in hybrid tech or simpler mild-hybrid systems, but expectations lean toward the former given the brand’s focus on performance and versatility.
The event may also include updates on other upcoming Mahindra vehicles such as the next-generation Bolero, facelifted XUV700, and the revised three-door Thar — all of which have been spotted testing recently.
With its growing lineup of both ICE and electric SUVs, Mahindra seems set to redefine its SUV lineup with an eye on future mobility. More teasers and information are likely to drop ahead of the August 15 event, so expect a steady build-up to what could be one of Mahindra’s biggest showcases yet.
