Mahindra has expanded its electric SUV lineup with the introduction of a new 79kWh battery pack option in the Pack Two variants of the XEV 9e and BE 6. With this launch, both models now offer a choice between two battery capacities — 59kWh and 79kWh — giving customers more flexibility depending on their range and performance needs. Deliveries for the newly added variants are set to begin by the end of July 2025.

The BE 6 Pack Two with the 59kWh battery starts at Rs 21.90 lakh (ex-showroom), while the 79kWh version is priced at Rs 23.50 lakh. The XEV 9e Pack Two starts at Rs 24.90 lakh for the 59kWh version, going up to Rs 26.50 lakh for the 79kWh variant. It’s important for buyers to note that these prices exclude charger and installation costs, and the final billing will reflect the price applicable at the time of delivery.

In terms of performance, the 79kWh battery is paired with a 210kW motor producing 282bhp and 380Nm of torque, sending power to the rear wheels. Mahindra claims a driving range of up to 500km on a single charge. Fast-charging support is included, with the 79kWh variant capable of charging from 20 to 80 percent in just 20 minutes using a 175kW DC fast charger. The 59kWh version, equipped with a 170kW motor, can be charged in the same time using a 140kW DC charger and delivers an estimated 400km range under real-world driving conditions.

Mahindra is also allowing existing customers, who are yet to take delivery of their EVs, the option to upgrade their bookings to the new long-range 79kWh configuration. This is expected to appeal to buyers who prioritize extended range, especially in metro and intercity driving scenarios.

Both battery versions come with a rich set of features that include Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), a panoramic glass roof, and a 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system with Dolby Atmos. The BE 6 continues to position itself as the more premium of the two, featuring sage leatherette upholstery and an ivory roof liner derived from the higher Pack Three variant. The XEV 9e retains its distinctive triple-screen dashboard setup, emphasizing a futuristic cabin design.

Under the skin, both models benefit from a sophisticated chassis and suspension setup. The front gets Mahindra’s iLink suspension, while the rear features a 5-link system with MTV-CL dampers and frequency-dependent damping to improve ride comfort. The steering system uses electric power assist with a variable gear ratio, enabling a compact turning radius of 10 metres — helpful for urban driving. Low rolling resistance tyres and extensive NVH dampening further enhance overall cabin refinement.

For tech-savvy drivers, Mahindra has also included multiple drive modes, a Boost mode for extra acceleration, multi-step regenerative braking, Auto mode, and a single-pedal drive function. Features like Adaptive Cruise Control and SonicSuite, which offers virtual engine sounds, aim to blend EV efficiency with a traditional driving experience.

With the BE and XEV lines already gaining strong market traction — reportedly one electric Mahindra SUV being sold every ten minutes — the company is now focusing on ramping up deliveries and expanding its service network to over 300 locations nationwide. This latest move is aimed at strengthening Mahindra’s position in the premium electric SUV space, offering buyers more choice and improved long-distance usability.
