Hyundai India Sells Over 1.1 Million Sunroof Cars in 5 Years

Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has achieved a major milestone, with over 1.1 million sunroof-equipped vehicles sold in the country over the past five years. This achievement highlights the growing demand among Indian car buyers for premium features, especially in the mass-market segment.

According to Hyundai, more than 52% of its domestic sales in 2024 included sunroof-equipped models—a number that has already climbed to 54% in the first half of 2025. These figures show that customers are increasingly prioritizing comfort and modern design elements when choosing their next car.

Hyundai currently offers sunroofs in 12 out of its 14 models, making it one of the leading carmakers to bring this once-luxury feature to mainstream buyers. From hatchbacks to SUVs, Hyundai has integrated sunroofs across categories, often as part of mid or higher-spec trims, helping drive the feature’s popularity.

Speaking on the achievement, Tarun Garg, Whole-Time Director and Chief Operating Officer, Hyundai Motor India Ltd., said, “This milestone is a strong reflection of the modern Indian customer’s aspiration for premium experiences in everyday mobility. At HMIL, we have consistently worked towards democratizing global technologies and high-end features for a broader set of customers. Going forward, we shall continue with our commitment to shape the future of mobility, by blending cutting-edge technology and innovation and future-ready product offerings.”

Hyundai has also taken steps to localize panoramic sunroof production, improving affordability while maintaining quality. This strategy not only makes the feature more accessible to buyers in India but also reinforces Hyundai’s focus on developing products tailored to local preferences.
