Bentley has taken the wraps off its most powerful SUV to date—the new Bentayga Speed, now powered by an uprated 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8. With the legendary W12 engine now retired, the British marque is repositioning its flagship SUV with more power, sharper dynamics, and a stronger focus on driver engagement.

A Shift from W12 to High-Powered V8

In a notable transition, Bentley has swapped the iconic 6.0-litre W12 for a revised twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8. The new engine develops 650 PS (641 bhp) and 850 Nm of torque, which is more horsepower than the outgoing W12 (626 bhp), though torque drops slightly from 900 Nm. However, performance is firmly on Bentley’s side—the Bentayga Speed now hits 0–100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds, making it the fastest Bentayga ever.

Top speed stands at 310 km/h (193 mph), again surpassing the previous flagship. In simple terms, Bentley’s biggest luxury SUV now boasts sports car acceleration.

Sharpened Dynamics and First-Ever Launch Control

Bentley hasn’t just added power—it’s refined the SUV’s dynamics to handle it. The new Sport mode has been significantly recalibrated. It increases suspension stiffness by 15%, sharpens steering response, and activates Launch Control for the first time in a Bentayga. A newly introduced ESC Dynamic mode also allows controlled oversteer and on-throttle slip, transforming how this large SUV handles corners.

The new all-wheel steering system further enhances agility—at low speeds, the rear wheels turn in the opposite direction to the fronts, reducing turning radius and improving maneuverability. At high speeds, they turn in the same direction for better stability.

Buyers can also opt for carbon ceramic brakes, which reduce unsprung mass and improve stopping power, especially under repeated hard braking.

Signature Sound and Style

To match its performance, Bentley has equipped the Bentayga Speed with a standard sports exhaust, giving the V8 a more aggressive soundtrack. For those wanting even more drama, an optional Akrapovič titanium exhaust is available with quad tailpipes and a deeper, more distinct note.

Visually, the Bentayga Speed wears all the usual hallmarks of a Bentley performance model. It gets dark-tinted brightware, Speed badging, and unique 22-inch wheels as standard, with 23-inch alloys available when carbon ceramic brakes are specified. Brake calipers can be painted in seven accent colours, giving buyers more personalization.

The cabin stays true to Bentley’s standards, but with sporty upgrades. The Precision Diamond quilt pattern on the seats, door panels, and backboard (in four-seat versions) adds texture, while the Speed-exclusive colour split introduces darker secondary hides with flashes of the main colour for a more dramatic appearance.
