Yamaha has officially launched the updated 2025 Tracer 7 and Tracer 7 GT in Europe, featuring revised styling, new technology, and improved touring capabilities. These sport-touring motorcycles now come with the latest CP2 engine, enhanced electronics, and chassis tweaks to make long-distance rides more comfortable. Pricing begins at £8,804 (approx. ₹10 lakh, ex-showroom) for the Tracer 7, while the more feature-loaded Tracer 7 GT is priced at £10,104 (approx. ₹11.48 lakh, ex-showroom).

Engine and Performance

Powering both models is Yamaha’s Euro 5+ compliant 689 cc CP2 parallel-twin engine, which produces 76.43 bhp and 68 Nm of torque. This is the same engine used in the latest Yamaha MT-07. While the power output remains unchanged, torque has gone up by 1 Nm. Yamaha also offers a 46 bhp version suitable for A2 licence holders in Europe.

The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox, and for 2025, Yamaha has introduced a new assist-and-slipper clutch, reducing clutch lever effort by 22%. Both models now feature an 18-litre fuel tank, giving them extended range compared to the previous version.

Ride-by-Wire and Electronics

The 2025 Tracer 7 and Tracer 7 GT gain a ride-by-wire throttle system, enabling features like cruise control and Yamaha Ride Control (YRC) with selectable riding modes—Sport, Street, and Custom. These are managed via a new 5-inch full-colour TFT display that also supports smartphone connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, and call/SMS alerts through the Garmin StreetCross app.

Chassis and Suspension Updates

The diamond frame chassis retains its core structure but has been revised to offer better rigidity. A new 40 mm longer swingarm enhances stability, especially at higher speeds or when riding with luggage. Suspension duties continue to be handled by a 41 mm USD fork at the front and a monoshock at the rear. The front suspension now gets 18 levels of rebound damping adjustment, while the rear offers remote preload adjustability.

Kerb weight has increased slightly, with the standard Tracer 7 now weighing 203 kg (6 kg more than before) and the Tracer 7 GT tipping the scales at 212 kg.

Brakes, Tyres, and Safety

Yamaha has upgraded the braking setup with radial-mount calipers, offering improved stopping power. Both models come equipped with Michelin Road 6 GT tyres for better grip in various riding conditions. Additional safety features include auto-cancelling turn indicators and Emergency Stop Signalling (ESS).

Ergonomics and Comfort

The rider triangle has been improved with higher and wider handlebars—30 mm taller and 25 mm wider—for a more upright riding position. The two-piece seat now offers 20 mm of height adjustability and better support. The GT version gets a special seat with extra cushioning for added comfort.

Pillion comfort has also been enhanced with a longer rear seat, redesigned grab rails, and updated footpegs. The GT variant also features rubber inserts in the footpegs to reduce vibrations during long rides.

Touring Enhancements on GT

The Tracer 7 GT is more touring-focused, equipped with a taller 90 mm windscreen that’s adjustable by 60 mm. It also gets standard three-level heated grips, a centre stand, and integrated side cases capable of fitting a helmet each.

Technology and Connectivity

The 5-inch TFT display is central to the user interface, providing access to ride modes, navigation, and smartphone features. Revised switchgear with flexible printed circuits improves usability, even while wearing gloves. There’s also a USB-C port next to the dash for charging devices.
