2026 GMC HUMMER EV Unveiled with King Crab Mode, Carbon Fiber Edition, and Enhanced Super Cruise

GMC has unveiled the 2026 HUMMER EV lineup, pushing the boundaries of electric off-road performance with advanced software features, faster acceleration, and exclusive design upgrades. The HUMMER EV, which pioneered the EV supertruck category, now becomes even more capable with key enhancements such as the new King Crab off-road mode and the Carbon Fiber Edition.

King Crab Mode Debuts for Superior Off-Road Agility

One of the biggest updates for 2026 is the introduction of King Crab mode, a new off-road rear-steering feature that improves low-speed maneuverability in tight or rugged terrain. Building on the HUMMER EV’s existing four-wheel steering, King Crab mode allows the rear wheels to turn faster and more significantly than the front wheels, making it easier to navigate narrow paths or crawl over obstacles.

This feature will be standard on all 2X and 3X trims for both Pickup and SUV variants. In addition, GMC will roll out King Crab mode to all 2022 through 2025 HUMMER EV models via an over-the-air (OTA) update later this year, fulfilling a previous commitment to unlock a promised “Mystery Mode” based on user suggestions.

Carbon Fiber Edition: The Quickest HUMMER EV Yet

GMC is also introducing a limited-run Carbon Fiber Edition for the 2026 model year, available for the 3X Pickup and SUV variants. Equipped with the 24-module battery, the Carbon Fiber Edition Pickup accelerates from 0-60 mph in just 2.8 seconds, making it the fastest HUMMER EV to date. This performance leap is the result of updated propulsion calibration, refined software tuning, and hardware optimization.

Key highlights of the Carbon Fiber Edition include:

  • Exclusive Magnus Gray Matte exterior
  • Velocity Ember interior theme
  • 22-inch carbon fiber black wheels
  • All-terrain tires
  • Carbon fiber accents on mirror caps and skid plate
  • Black approach shield and emblems
  • Spare carbon fiber black wheel (SUV only)

Bidirectional Charging Capabilities

The 2026 HUMMER EV lineup introduces bidirectional charging, allowing the vehicle to share power either to another EV or a home, when properly equipped. This includes:

  • Vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) charging for powering compatible EVs
  • Vehicle-to-home (V2H) capability to supply power during blackouts or emergencies

Enhanced Super Cruise with New Features

GMC’s Super Cruise hands-free driving system now offers Hands on Lane Change Assist (HOLCA) and Lane Change for Route, enabling automatic lane changes based on navigation routes. These updates provide more seamless transitions on mapped roads and improve overall highway driving functionality.

Performance and Ride Improvements

The available 3X Pickup model, equipped with the 24-module battery, delivers an impressive 1,160 horsepower and 13,000 lb-ft of torque, making it the most powerful truck in its class. Suspension tuning has also been refined to improve ride quality across varying road conditions, further enhancing driver comfort.

Technology and Connectivity Upgrades
