Nissan unveils the sixth-generation Micra as a fully electric hatchback, marking its EV debut after 40 years. Built on the CMF-BEV platform, the new Micra EV is set to launch in Europe later this year.

Nissan has introduced the sixth-generation Micra, transforming the long-running hatchback into a fully electric vehicle for the first time since its launch four decades ago. This major update marks a significant milestone in the brand’s electrification strategy.
For the first time, the Micra will be offered exclusively as a fully electric vehicle. Buyers will have two battery choices: a 40kWh pack offering up to 310 km of range, and a larger 52kWh battery capable of up to 408 km on a full charge. Fast charging is also supported, with 100kW DC charging (80kW on the 40kWh version) allowing 15-80% top-ups in about 30 minutes.

With a length of under 4 metres and a width of less than 1.8 metres, the Micra is designed to easily navigate city streets while still offering practicality. A wheelbase of 2.54 metres enhances cabin space, and despite its compact footprint, the Micra offers an impressive 326 litres of boot capacity—expandable to 1106 litres with the rear seats folded.

Developed at Nissan’s Design Europe studio in London, the new Micra gets a bold SUV-inspired look. The exterior includes sculpted lines, 18-inch wheels (depending on variant), and signature LED lighting. One standout feature is a “welcome wink” lighting animation that activates as you unlock the car. The “ice cream scoop” body crease running along the side adds a unique visual touch.

A wide palette of 14 colour combinations is available, including Rebel Red, Elegant Silver, and Noble Marine, with several two-tone options that combine bold body shades with black or grey roofs.

Inside, the Micra continues its tradition of understated design. A dual 10.1-inch digital display setup offers both a digital instrument cluster and a central infotainment touchscreen. Trim options include “Modern,” “Audacious,” and “Chill,” each offering different seat fabrics and dashboard finishes. Ambient lighting offers 48 colour settings, and hidden design cues, like a Mount Fuji outline between the front seats, nod to Nissan’s Japanese roots.

The Micra comes with multiple drive modes—Comfort, Eco, Sport, and a customizable “Perso” mode—that adjust throttle response, steering weight, and power output based on the driver’s preferences. With its low centre of gravity and suspension setup borrowed from larger segments, the Micra aims to deliver a balanced and responsive ride. Regenerative braking is adjustable via steering wheel paddles, and the e-Pedal feature allows for near one-pedal driving in city traffic.

Built on the same AmpR EV platform as other Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance models, the Micra supports Google built-in features. Google Maps, Assistant, and Play Store are integrated into the infotainment system. Over-the-air updates ensure that navigation and apps stay current. The NissanConnect app allows users to monitor battery status, schedule charging, adjust cabin climate, and more—all remotely.

Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability allows the Micra’s battery to power external devices like small appliances, making it a versatile option for active lifestyles.
Nissan has packed the new Micra with advanced safety systems. Highlights include ProPilot assist with adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping, plus emergency braking, blind spot warning, rear cross traffic alert, and more.
