Bajaj Auto has launched the new Chetak 3001 electric scooter in India, priced at ₹99,990 (ex-showroom). Positioned as the new entry point to the Chetak lineup, the Chetak 3001 is designed for daily urban commutes and offers enhanced practicality, improved range, and modern features aimed at easing the transition from petrol to electric mobility.

Built on the Chetak 35 platform — which also underpins the Chetak 3501 and 3502 — the new 3001 focuses on usability. Bajaj has repositioned the 3.0kWh battery to the floorboard, improving the scooter’s balance by lowering its centre of gravity. This not only enhances ride stability but also opens up a generous 35-litre underseat storage space — a welcome addition for users carrying bags, groceries, or helmets.

Range remains a key factor for electric two-wheeler buyers, and the Chetak 3001 delivers a certified 127 km on a full charge. The battery is paired with a 750W charger that can replenish up to 80% charge in 3 hours and 50 minutes — among the quicker options available in the segment for home charging.

In terms of features, the Chetak 3001 offers several tech upgrades, especially for those who opt for the TecPac. This optional pack adds connected features such as music and call controls, hill-hold assist, auto-off indicators, reverse alert, and ‘Guide Me Home’ lighting. The scooter retains the signature full-metal body that the Chetak series is known for, distinguishing it from rivals that rely on plastic panels. The IP67 water and dust resistance rating ensures it’s ready for challenging Indian road and weather conditions.

Commenting on the launch, Eric Vas, President of the Urbanite Business Unit at Bajaj Auto, said, “Chetak 3001 sets the benchmark for mass adoption of electric scooters. Built on the next-generation platform, it delivers the range and performance that Indian scooter riders demand – distraction-free riding with the peace of mind of assured reliability and service. The Chetak 3001 is the everyday electric scooter to make petrol scooters redundant; it’s bigger, stronger, and fully Lifeproof at an ex-showroom price of ₹99,990.”
