Land Rover has taken the wraps off the new Defender Octa Black Edition, giving its most capable SUV a bold and stealthy makeover. Following closely on the heels of the Range Rover Sport SV Black Edition, this new variant continues the all-black theme, combining rugged performance with dark, premium aesthetics. Although there’s no official confirmation yet, the Octa Black Edition is expected to make its way to India later this year or early 2026.

The Defender Octa Black Edition gets a striking Narvik Black finish — the deepest black in the Defender colour palette. Over 30 exterior elements have been given a darkened treatment, including gloss and satin black accents on the front and rear scuff plates, tow eye covers, quad exhaust tips, and even underbody components like the exhaust silencer cover. Buyers can further enhance the visual presence with an optional matte protective film and 22-inch gloss black alloy wheels (20-inch wheels are also available in the same finish).

Land Rover has also expanded the colour choices for the standard Defender Octa, now adding Sargasso Blue and Borasco Grey, while a Patagonia White Matte Wrap is expected to be offered later this year.

Inside, the Octa Black Edition continues the blackout theme with Ebony Semi-Aniline leather and Kvadrat upholstery, a first for the Defender lineup. The performance seats feature a unique perforation pattern and are contrasted with Carpathian Grey backings. Satin black accents are standard across the cabin, with an option to upgrade to Chopped Carbon Fibre trim for a sportier interior look.

Under the hood, there are no mechanical changes. The Defender Octa Black continues to use the powerful 4.4-litre twin-turbo mild-hybrid V8 engine, delivering 626 bhp and 750 Nm of torque. The SUV is also equipped with 6D Dynamics suspension and a dedicated Octa Mode for high-performance off-road capability. The Octa also features Body and Soul Seats (BASS) technology, developed with SUBPAC, which lets occupants feel music through vibrations via a 700W Meridian sound system.
