Dolby Revolutionizes In-Car Entertainment with Immersive Tech at Auto Shanghai 2025

The 21st edition of Auto Shanghai kicked off with a strong focus on in-car entertainment, as Dolby Laboratories showcased the next generation of immersive experiences powered by Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos surround sound. The tech firm’s growing presence in the automotive space was on full display, with more than 25 automakers now adopting Dolby technologies — a significant jump from just a year ago.

As vehicles evolve into mobile living and entertainment spaces, consumer demand for premium content and high-quality experiences has surged. Dolby is positioning itself at the heart of this transformation, partnering with major auto brands and streaming services to bring cinema-like visuals and audio into the car cabin.

Automakers Get Onboard

Several automakers announced new models featuring Dolby integration. Among the most notable:

  • Li Auto revealed its 2025 Li MEGA Ultra and MEGA Home Edition with both Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos.
  • ZEEKR introduced the 009 Grand Collector’s Edition and 007 GT, supporting Dolby Vision and Atmos respectively.
  • Changan Mazda debuted the EZ-60, its first Dolby Atmos-equipped model.
  • Cadillac announced the LYRIQ-V with Dolby Atmos, tailored for the Chinese market.
  • Other brands including WEY, ONVO, firefly, NIO, Xiaomi, Lynk&Co, and BYD also showcased models supporting Dolby experiences.

This growing list underscores the momentum Dolby is gaining among both Chinese and global car manufacturers.

Expanding the Ecosystem

Dolby isn’t just working with automakers. Tech and supplier partners like Arkamys and MediaTek demonstrated how they’re helping optimize vehicle hardware for Dolby’s technologies. MediaTek, for example, presented Dolby Vision capabilities integrated into its new Dimensity Auto MT8678 platform.

Consumer Demand and Strategic Partnerships

To better understand the market, Dolby commissioned research from Counterpoint Technology Market Research. The study, based on over 1,200 car owners in China, found that 97% were aware of Dolby technologies, and a vast majority of those planning to buy a car in the next six months expressed interest in Dolby-equipped models.

At a panel event hosted in Dolby’s experience hub, “Dolby House,” executives from Li Auto and Tencent Music Entertainment shared insights into their ongoing collaborations. Li Auto became the first brand to offer a combined Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos experience in its cars, while Tencent’s QQ Music platform has led the way in supporting Dolby Atmos Music and, more recently, Dolby Vision music videos — now available to Li Auto users.
