Honda has dropped the City e:HEV ZX’s price by ₹95,000, bringing it under ₹20 lakh. The base V trim is discontinued. Honda also cuts Amaze VX CVT price to ₹9.99 lakh to attract compact sedan buyers.

Honda Cars India has revised the pricing of the City e:HEV hybrid sedan, bringing down the cost of its sole remaining variant — the ZX — to ₹19.89 lakh (ex-showroom). This marks a price cut of ₹95,000, making the City Hybrid the only strong hybrid sedan available in India under the ₹20 lakh mark. The update also comes with the discontinuation of the entry-level V trim, streamlining the City Hybrid lineup to just the fully-loaded ZX variant.
The move is a strategic step by Honda to make the City e:HEV a more attractive offering in the premium sedan segment. First introduced in 2022 as India’s first mass-produced strong hybrid sedan, the City Hybrid uses Honda’s advanced i-MMD (Intelligent Multi-Mode Drive) technology. It combines a 1.5-litre petrol engine with two electric motors, delivering a total output of 124 bhp and a class-leading torque figure of 253 Nm. Unlike mild-hybrid rivals, the City e:HEV can run short distances purely on electric power, thanks to its 0.7 kWh lithium-ion battery and dedicated drive motor.
One of the highlights of this hybrid system is its exceptional fuel efficiency — an ARAI-certified 27.26 kmpl. Power is sent to the front wheels via an eCVT gearbox. The system is also engineered for long-term durability and low emissions, with one electric motor acting as a generator to charge the battery while the other drives the wheels.
Visually, the City Hybrid ZX stands out with a few subtle differences over its petrol counterparts, including an e:HEV badge, a sporty rear diffuser, and a lip spoiler. It rides on dual-tone 16-inch alloy wheels and features all-LED headlamps with DRLs. Inside, the car is equipped with a sunroof, wireless charging, an 8-speaker audio system, and an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The City Hybrid also boasts of segment-first safety and convenience features. It comes with Honda’s Level 2 ADAS suite, including adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, auto high beam, collision mitigation braking, and road departure mitigation. A lane watch camera system is also integrated, displaying the left-side blind spot on the infotainment screen. Additional safety highlights include six airbags, vehicle stability assist, hill-start assist, multi-angle rear camera, ISOFIX mounts, and a tyre pressure monitoring system. The model has secured a 5-star ASEAN NCAP safety rating.

With the ZX variant now priced under ₹20 lakh, Honda is clearly aiming to improve the City Hybrid’s value proposition amid growing interest in electrified vehicles. Moreover, Honda plans to extend this strong hybrid powertrain to upcoming SUVs in India, including a new midsize model and a 7-seater SUV in the pipeline.
Apart from this, Honda has also announced a price cut for the Amaze VX CVT. The automatic variant now starts at ₹9.99 lakh (ex-showroom), down from ₹10.19 lakh. This revised price, which was earlier available as a limited-time offer in select cities, is now being rolled out pan-India. The price adjustment strengthens the Amaze’s appeal in the compact sedan space, especially for buyers looking for a refined automatic option under the ₹10 lakh bracket.
