Hyundai Motor India has expanded the Aura sedan range with the launch of a new S AMT variant, priced at ₹8.07 lakh (ex-showroom). This mid-spec trim now becomes the most affordable automatic option in the Aura lineup, positioned below the SX+ AMT which costs ₹8.95 lakh. With this move, Hyundai aims to offer greater convenience to sedan buyers seeking an automatic transmission at a more accessible price point.

The addition of the AMT to the S trim means the Aura now covers all powertrain combinations – petrol manual, petrol AMT, and CNG manual – under the same variant. The S petrol manual continues to retail at ₹7.38 lakh, while the S CNG version sits at the top of this trim at ₹8.37 lakh.

Powering the Aura S AMT is the familiar 1.2-litre Kappa petrol engine, producing 83 PS and 114 Nm of torque, paired with a five-speed AMT. The CNG variant gets the same engine, but with slightly lower outputs – 69 PS and 95.2 Nm – and comes only with a manual gearbox.

In terms of features, the Aura S AMT offers a solid package for its price. It comes equipped with LED daytime running lamps, 15-inch steel wheels, a rear spoiler, body-coloured door handles and ORVMs, footwell lighting, and a chrome-accented gear knob. The cabin includes conveniences like a music system with USB and Bluetooth support, manual air conditioning, keyless entry, driver seat height adjustment, and electrically foldable ORVMs with turn indicators.

The safety kit is impressive for the segment. Commenting on the launch, Tarun Garg, Whole-Time Director and COO of Hyundai Motor India, said, “At HMIL, we are committed to making smart mobility accessible to a wider set of customers. The introduction of advanced AMT transmission in Hyundai AURA S AMT reflects our continuous efforts to democratize technology and enhance convenience for customers. With this introduction, we aim to redefine the value proposition in the entry segment by offering superior comfort, safety, performance and convenience at an affordable price.”

Notably, the new Hyundai Aura S AMT is priced around ₹70,000 more than its manual counterpart but remains more affordable than the automatic versions of the Maruti Suzuki Dzire and Honda Amaze, which start at ₹8.34 lakh and ₹9.35 lakh respectively. The Tata Tigor, however, continues to hold the title of the most budget-friendly automatic subcompact sedan, with prices starting at ₹7.35 lakh (ex-showroom).
