India Kawasaki Motors has launched the 2025 Versys-X 300, expanding its adventure-touring lineup with a compact and accessible option. Priced at ₹3.80 lakh (ex-showroom), the motorcycle is aimed at riders looking for a beginner-friendly ADV that can handle both daily commutes and off-road getaways.

A New Entry in the Versys Family

The Versys name has long been trusted by touring enthusiasts, and the Versys-X 300 carries forward that legacy in a more compact and accessible form. Positioned below the larger Versys 650 and Versys 1000 in Kawasaki’s India lineup, it serves as an ideal entry-level option for riders stepping into the adventure touring segment.

Kawasaki is clearly targeting the growing demand for mid-capacity ADVs in India, a segment currently led by the likes of the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 and KTM 390 Adventure. With the new Versys-X 300, Kawasaki aims to offer a more refined alternative, featuring a rev-happy twin-cylinder engine not commonly found in this price range.

Design and Equipment

The Versys-X 300 mirrors its international counterpart in design. It features a tall windscreen, halogen headlamp, semi-fairing, and a prominent fuel tank with shrouds. The rear gets a solid grab rail and luggage rack setup, making it touring-ready from the start.

Two colour options are available — Metallic Ocean Blue with Pearl Robotic White, and Candy Lime Green with Metallic Flat Spark Black — both giving the bike a premium look.

Hardware Built for Adventure

Kawasaki has equipped the Versys-X 300 with 19-inch front and 17-inch rear spoke wheels, fitted with tube-type tyres suited for mixed terrain. It comes with long-travel 41mm telescopic front forks and a rear Uni-Trak monoshock, tuned for off-road use.

The motorcycle weighs 185 kg and offers 180 mm of ground clearance, adding to its touring credentials. A 17-litre fuel tank supports long-distance rides with fewer fuel stops.

Powertrain and Performance

Powering the bike is a 296cc parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine borrowed from the Ninja 300. It delivers 40 PS at 11,500 RPM and 25.7 Nm of torque at 10,000 RPM. Mated to a 6-speed gearbox with assist and slipper clutch, the setup promises smooth shifts and controlled engine braking — especially useful in city traffic and while riding on challenging terrain.

Features and Comfort

The riding triangle is adventure-focused, with wide handlebars, mid-set footpegs, and a one-piece stepped seat designed for long hours on the saddle. The upright posture is well-suited for both highway cruising and light off-roading.

Instrumentation is semi-digital, with a large analog tachometer, gear position indicator, and an LCD display for ride data. However, the Versys-X 300 misses out on modern features like LED lighting and a fully digital console.

Kawasaki is offering a range of genuine accessories to enhance touring capability — including panniers, hand guards, fog lamps, and a center stand — allowing riders to personalize the bike based on their needs.

Price and Availability

The Kawasaki Versys-X 300 is priced at ₹3.80 lakh (ex-showroom), placing it slightly above the KTM 390 Adventure, which is priced at ₹3.68 lakh, and significantly higher than the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, which ranges between ₹2.85 lakh and ₹2.98 lakh (ex-showroom). Despite the premium, the Versys-X 300 offers a refined twin-cylinder engine and Kawasaki’s strong build quality, setting it apart in this competitive segment.

Deliveries for the Versys-X 300 will begin in June 2025 through Kawasaki dealerships across the country.
