Kia is set to launch the Carens Clavis EV in India in July 2025. Expected to feature two battery options and a driving range of over 450km, the electric MPV will retain premium features from its ICE version.

Kia is gearing up to expand its EV lineup in India with the upcoming launch of the Carens Clavis EV. The electric version of the recently launched Carens Clavis is set to make its debut in July 2025, with pricing details expected to be announced around the same time. This new model will be positioned as a premium electric MPV and is likely to retain most of the design and features of its ICE counterpart, while incorporating subtle changes to distinguish it as an EV.
Visually, the Carens Clavis EV will carry forward the overall design language of the ICE version but may get updates like a reworked front fascia, reshaped LED DRLs, and revised alloy wheels. The cabin layout is expected to remain largely unchanged, with Kia possibly offering new surface finishes and trim elements. Features like a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, automatic climate control, Level 2 ADAS, dual-tone alloy wheels, all-LED lighting, a connected LED light bar at the rear, dual 12.25-inch displays, and a 360-degree camera will be part of the equipment list. The model will also continue to offer both six- and seven-seat configurations.

While official specifications have not been disclosed yet, the Carens Clavis EV is expected to borrow its electric powertrain from the Hyundai Creta Electric. This means it could come with two battery options – a 42kWh unit and a larger 51.4kWh pack. The latter offers a claimed range of up to 473km on a single charge in the Creta, though the Clavis EV might return a slightly lower range due to its size and weight. Real-world figures could still cross the 450km mark, making it a viable option for families seeking an electric MPV with decent range.

Kia’s decision to introduce the Clavis EV seems well-timed, as it enters a space that currently lacks a direct rival in the midsize electric MPV segment. With its practical three-row layout and premium feature set, the Clavis EV is expected to attract buyers looking for an electric vehicle that balances comfort, technology, and space.
The Clavis EV will join Kia’s existing electric offerings in India, which include the EV6 and EV9. The company is also working on the Syros EV, a compact electric SUV likely to launch next year as a rival to the Tata Punch EV.
