Kia India has officially launched the Carens Clavis EV, marking its entry into the made-in-India electric vehicle segment. Priced from Rs. 17.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the Clavis EV becomes the first midsize electric MPV in its category and will be available for bookings starting July 22.

The electric version is based on the updated Carens Clavis ICE model and carries forward much of its design DNA with a few EV-specific touches. Key highlights include a full-width LED light bar on the front fascia, a new tri-pod LED headlight setup, and a discreetly integrated charging port on the nose. It also features newly designed dual-tone alloy wheels and repositioned fog lamps above the front skid plate.

Inside, the Clavis EV offers a familiar layout with a two-spoke multifunction steering wheel and dual digital displays — one for instrumentation and the other for infotainment. A raised centre console and roof-mounted AC vents for rear passengers add to the MPV’s comfort and practicality. The electric model will come exclusively in a seven-seat configuration.

On the feature front, Kia has packed in conveniences like wireless phone charging, automatic climate control, ambient lighting, and a full suite of safety equipment including six airbags and ADAS. Notably, the Clavis EV also supports Kia’s Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) function, allowing users to power external electronic devices directly from the vehicle.

For improved urban driving efficiency, Kia has included its i-Pedal technology, allowing for nearly single-pedal driving through regenerative braking. This system, along with the vehicle’s spacious seven-seater configuration, positions the Clavis EV as a compelling choice for family buyers exploring the electric mobility space.

The Clavis EV launch is part of Kia’s broader EV strategy in India. The company is also working on the Syros EV, a compact SUV expected to arrive by 2026.
