Kia is set to unveil the Carens Clavis EV in India on July 15, 2025. Based on the ICE Clavis, this all-electric MPV is expected to offer up to 473km range, Level 2 ADAS, dual digital displays, and fast charging options.

Kia India is gearing up to unveil its first midsize electric vehicle for the Indian market—the Carens Clavis EV—on July 15, 2025. The new EV, which has been spotted testing multiple times on local roads, will mark Kia’s entry into the mass-market electric segment. It will also be the first of two EVs the company has in the pipeline for India, with a second model based on the upcoming Syros expected next year.
While the official name of the EV hasn’t been confirmed, it is expected to carry the ‘Clavis’ badge and share its foundation with the ICE-powered Carens Clavis that launched just a few weeks ago. That model sits above the standard Carens in Kia’s lineup and brought several design and feature enhancements. The electric version is likely to retain much of this package, with a few EV-specific changes in styling and features to set it apart.
In terms of design, the Clavis EV is expected to remain largely similar to its ICE sibling, but key visual differences will include a sealed-off grille, unique alloy wheels for better aerodynamics, and distinct EV badging. Signature elements such as Star Map LED DRLs with integrated indicators, triple-pod LED headlamps, and connected Star Map LED tail lamps are expected to give the EV a premium and modern look.

Inside the cabin, the layout is likely to mirror that of the ICE version, but Kia could offer a more tech-forward experience. The highlight here will be a massive 26.62-inch dual-screen setup that combines the infotainment system with the digital instrument cluster. Other premium features expected include ventilated front seats, a 4-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, smart air purifier, ambient lighting, and a BOSE 8-speaker audio system. Convenience features like wireless phone charging and rear AC vents will also be included, making it a family-friendly option in the EV space.
Under the hood, the Clavis EV is expected to use the same electric powertrain as the upcoming Hyundai Creta Electric. That means we can expect two battery options: a 42kWh pack with a 135bhp motor offering up to 390km of range, and a larger 51.5kWh pack paired with a 171hp motor capable of around 473km on a single charge. Charging options will include 11kW AC fast charging, which can charge the battery fully in about 4–4.8 hours, and 50kW DC fast charging that can top it up from 10% to 80% in under an hour.
The Clavis EV is expected to come equipped with a range of advanced tech features aimed at enhancing both convenience and driving dynamics. These include adjustable regenerative braking via paddle shifters, Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) charging capabilities, and a suite of Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). Key ADAS features likely to be offered are adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, automatic emergency braking, high beam assist, and driver attention monitoring.

On the safety front, Kia is expected to offer six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), hill-start assist, and all-wheel disc brakes as standard. Additional driver assistance and visibility tools such as a 360-degree camera, blind-view monitor, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and a dual-camera dash cam may also be included, further strengthening the Clavis EV’s credentials as a family-friendly and secure electric MPV.
Looking ahead, Kia is also working on the Syros EV, which is likely to be positioned below the Clavis in both size and price. Expected to debut in 2026, the Syros EV will take on rivals like the Tata Punch EV and further expand Kia’s electric lineup in India.
