Kia is preparing to expand its electric vehicle lineup in India with the debut of the Carens Clavis EV, which is set to launch on July 15, 2025. According to dealer sources confirmed to Acko Drive, the all-electric version of the Clavis will carry over much of the design and platform from its ICE counterpart, but will include a few distinctive changes to highlight its EV identity.

Visually, the Clavis EV will feature a redesigned front fascia, reshaped LED DRLs, and new alloy wheel designs that set it apart from the petrol or diesel-powered Clavis. However, the overall shape and proportions of the car are expected to remain consistent with the ICE model, maintaining the familiar silhouette that buyers already recognize.

Inside, the electric version will retain the same dashboard layout, touchscreen infotainment system, centre console, and steering wheel from the regular Clavis. However, to suit its premium EV positioning, the interior may get updated surface materials and trim finishes. One of the key highlights will be the spacious cabin with three-row seating, making it one of the few electric MPVs in the mainstream segment to offer such practicality.

The Carens Clavis EV is likely to share its powertrain and platform with the Hyundai Creta EV, which was introduced earlier this year. The Creta EV offers two battery configurations — a 42 kWh battery with a 390 km range and a larger 51.4 kWh unit with a claimed range of 473 km. Kia is expected to follow a similar strategy with the Clavis EV, possibly offering multiple battery options with a range between 400 km and 500 km.
