Kia Carens Clavis EV To Launch Tomorrow In India: Here’s Everything You Need To Know

Kia India is all set to debut the much-awaited Carens Clavis EV on July 15, marking its official entry into the midsize electric MPV segment. With this launch, the Clavis EV will become the first all-electric 7-seater MPV in its category, targeting urban families looking for spacious, tech-loaded EV alternatives.

The EV version is based on the updated Carens Clavis ICE model, but gets several EV-specific styling touches. Official images released earlier show a closed-off grille up front with an integrated charging port, a triple-pod LED headlamp setup, and a full-width LED light bar. Newly designed dual-tone aerodynamic alloy wheels, fog lamps above the skid plate, and subtle tweaks to the bumpers help differentiate it from its ICE counterpart.

Inside, the Carens Clavis EV follows the brand’s new design direction. It features a dual 12.3-inch connected screen layout—one for the infotainment system and the other for the driver display. The dashboard gets a black-and-white dual-tone theme, and the cabin includes a retractable-lid storage box between the front seats for added utility. A two-spoke steering wheel, roof-mounted AC vents for rear passengers, and ambient lighting round out the refreshed cabin.

As standard, the Clavis EV will offer a 7-seater configuration, though a 6-seater version could also be introduced later. Kia is also including its Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) function, allowing the EV to power external appliances—a handy addition for outdoor or backup use.

Under the floor, the Clavis EV is expected to feature two battery pack options. The higher-spec model will use a 51.4 kWh battery, offering a claimed range of up to 490 km on the Indian driving cycle. A smaller 42 kWh battery option may be introduced in lower variants, offering around 400 km of range, appealing to cost-conscious buyers.

While Kia hasn’t officially confirmed the motor output yet, the Carens Clavis EV is expected to share powertrain elements with the upcoming Hyundai Creta Electric, including i-Pedal regenerative braking technology for one-pedal driving.

Feature-wise, Kia will load the Clavis EV with segment-first equipment such as:

  • Powered and ventilated front seats
  • Dual-zone automatic climate control
  • Wireless phone charging for front and rear passengers
  • Panoramic sunroof
  • Auto-dimming IRVM

Safety won’t take a backseat either. The model is likely to get six airbags as standard, along with 360-degree camera, blind spot monitoring, tyre pressure monitoring system, and front and rear parking sensors. A Level-2 ADAS suite is also expected, with highlights like adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, autonomous emergency braking, and driver drowsiness detection.

The Carens Clavis EV has already been showcased at multiple roadshows across 11 cities following its first appearance at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 in New Delhi.

With pre-bookings expected to open immediately after launch, the Carens Clavis EV could be priced from around ₹15 lakh (ex-showroom), making it one of the most affordable electric MPVs in the country. Official prices and full variant details will be revealed tomorrow.
