Land Rover has introduced two new special edition models for the Discovery SUV – the Tempest and Gemini – as part of its 2025 lineup. These new versions are aimed at enhancing the premium appeal and versatility of the Discovery, making it even more suitable for family road trips and adventurous getaways.

Discovery Tempest – The Most Luxurious Discovery Yet

The Tempest edition stands as the most high-spec Discovery to date. It features a matte protective body finish – a first for Discovery – available in three colour options: Charente Grey, Varesine Blue and Carpathian Grey. Complementing the exterior is a Petra Copper Gloss roof, along with copper accents on the wing vents, front bumper inserts and Discovery badging. This gives the SUV a bold and premium road presence.

The Tempest edition rides on 22-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels finished with Petra Copper tint and gloss black details – an exclusive design for this model. Inside, the SUV gets black Windsor leather upholstery paired with brushed aluminium inserts and unique Tempest-themed elements, including badging on the B-pillars, treadplates, and puddle lamps. It’s designed to deliver a more refined and luxurious experience for families on the move.

Discovery Gemini – A Nod to the Original 1989 Discovery

Paying tribute to the original Discovery from 1989, the Gemini edition is named after the codename of the early 2.5-litre TDI diesel engine. This edition brings back nostalgia with a modern twist.

Offered in six colour choices, including a new Sedona Red that’s exclusive to Gemini, it features a gloss black contrast roof and matching lower body cladding and wing vents. It rides on 21-inch silver-finished alloy wheels, while other exterior highlights include commemorative badging and an Atlas Gloss grille surround.

Inside, it’s all about family convenience. The Gemini comes equipped with a front-seat cooler compartment, Click & Go rear-seat media holders and three-zone climate control. These features make long drives more comfortable, especially for families travelling with kids.

Powertrain – One Strong Diesel Option

Both Tempest and Gemini editions are powered by the same 3.0-litre, inline-six, mild-hybrid diesel engine, producing 350 PS and 700 Nm of torque. This D350-badged engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox and full-time all-wheel drive. The mild-hybrid system boosts efficiency by recovering energy during deceleration and using it to support acceleration. The Discovery’s 3,500kg towing capacity remains unchanged, reinforcing its credentials as a reliable and capable family SUV.

Updates Across the Lineup

Apart from the two new editions, the standard Discovery variants – S, Dynamic SE, Dynamic HSE, and Metropolitan – also get equipment upgrades for 2025. New alloy wheel designs are available, such as a five-spoke 22-inch style with a dark grey finish and gloss black details, and a split five-spoke 21-inch black wheel available on the Dynamic SE variant. The Dynamic HSE now comes with three-zone climate control as standard.

Speaking about the new updates, Joelle Taylor, Head of Discovery Strategy, Product and Services, said,“Discovery is the perfect choice for those who enjoy spontaneous adventures with the whole family. As a mum of two young girls, I know from first‑hand experience how well it handles everything family life throws at it. With its vast, versatile, seven‑seat interior and exceptional capability, I know we will reach our destination in comfort and with everything we need. The fresh design details, lifestyle‑focused option packs and eye‑catching Tempest and Gemini editions ensure the range is now more compelling than ever”.

Adventure-Ready Accessories

Land Rover is also offering curated accessory packs for Discovery buyers. These include:

  • Beach Days Pack: Roof rack, rubber mats and boot organiser
  • Road Trip Pack: Seat-back organisers, roof box, wind deflectors
  • Snow Days Pack: Ski rack and snow traction system

These accessory bundles make it easier for buyers to gear up based on their preferred travel style and destination.

Off-Road Tech Remains Strong

Land Rover hasn’t compromised on what the Discovery is known for — its off-road capability. It still comes equipped with All Terrain Progress Control and Terrain Response 2, making it easier to tackle a variety of surfaces. Whether you’re crossing streams or towing gear, the 900mm wading depth and helpful tools like Advanced Tow Assist ensure the SUV stays practical and adventure-ready.
