Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara becomes the fastest C-segment SUV in India to cross 3 lakh sales in just 32 months. Strong hybrid variants and 4×4 options drive popularity in the competitive midsize SUV segment.

Maruti Suzuki has added another major milestone to its portfolio, this time with its midsize SUV, the Grand Vitara. The company has announced that the SUV has crossed the 3 lakh unit sales mark in just 32 months, making it the fastest C-segment SUV in the Indian market to achieve this feat. This achievement underscores the growing popularity of the Grand Vitara and its strong foothold in one of the most competitive segments in the country.
A major driving force behind the Grand Vitara’s success has been the strong hybrid variants, which have seen a 43% year-on-year growth in sales during FY 2024–25. These variants have appealed to buyers looking for a fuel-efficient yet feature-rich SUV with lower emissions. With Maruti Suzuki’s growing focus on hybrid and clean powertrains, the Grand Vitara has positioned itself as a smart choice for eco-conscious buyers without compromising on performance or comfort.
The company recently refreshed the Grand Vitara lineup with the 2025 model year update. New variants such as Zeta (O), Alpha (O), Zeta+ (O), and Alpha+ (O) now come equipped with a panoramic sunroof, enhancing their appeal in the premium end of the segment. The SUV continues to offer the rare combination of ALLGRIP SELECT 4×4 system with a six-speed torque converter automatic transmission and a petrol-electric strong hybrid layout—features that are typically not found together in this segment.

On the inside, the Grand Vitara remains a feature-packed SUV. It comes with a 9-inch SmartPlay Pro+ touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, ventilated front seats, a powered driver seat, wireless phone charging, PM 2.5 air filter with display, 360-degree camera, heads-up display, and a Clarion-tuned sound system. These features collectively deliver a premium experience to the occupants. Visually, the SUV stands out with its upright design, bold front fascia, and stylish 17-inch alloy wheels, giving it a strong road presence.

Safety has also been a top priority for Maruti Suzuki with the Grand Vitara. All variants come equipped with six airbags, ESP with Hill Hold, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child seat mounts, 3-point seatbelts for all passengers, and front and rear disc brakes. These standard safety features further strengthen its value proposition in the segment. The Grand Vitara is currently priced between ₹11.42 lakh and ₹20.68 lakh (ex-showroom), offering buyers a wide range of options depending on their requirements.

Interestingly, while the SUV has achieved this record-breaking milestone, monthly sales have seen a decline over the course of 2025. The model registered 15,784 units in January, 10,669 units in February, 10,418 units in March, 7,154 units in April, and 5,197 units in May. To regain momentum and boost consumer engagement, Maruti Suzuki has launched a new campaign titled ‘Driven by Tech’. This campaign focuses on showcasing the dual personality of the Grand Vitara through two contrasting users—one tackling off-road terrain in the ALLGRIP 4×4 variant and the other driving the strong hybrid variant in an urban setting. The campaign effectively highlights the SUV’s versatility and broad appeal.
Speaking on the milestone, Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing and Sales, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said, “We thank our 3 lakh strong Grand Vitara family for their trust in Maruti Suzuki. The Grand Vitara has been a catalyst in strengthening Maruti Suzuki’s position in the mid-SUV market, and achieving this monumental milestone in such a short period of time is a new benchmark for the industry.”
The Grand Vitara, along with its Toyota counterpart, the Urban Cruiser Hyryder, remains one of the few monocoque midsize SUVs to offer both a strong hybrid powertrain and a 4×4 drivetrain. This combination allows Maruti Suzuki to cater to both off-road enthusiasts and environmentally conscious buyers, making the Grand Vitara a standout product in the segment.
