The MG M9 electric MPV is expected to launch in India soon via CKD assembly. With a 90 kWh battery, premium features, and a projected price of Rs 60–70 lakh, it aims to rival the Kia Carnival.

MG Motor India is preparing to introduce its new electric MPV, the MG M9, to the Indian market. The vehicle will be retailed through the company’s new ‘MG Select’ premium dealership network, which is currently being rolled out across several major cities.
The M9 was first showcased at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 earlier this year, alongside the MG Cyberster electric sports car. Both models are expected to reach showrooms soon. The M9 has already been spotted at a dealership, indicating that its official launch is likely to take place within the next two months. The MPV will be offered in three exterior colours: Cardiff Black, Luminous White, and Mystic Grey.

Once launched, the MG M9 will compete in the premium MPV segment, positioned as an electric alternative to vehicles like the fourth-generation Kia Carnival and Toyota Vellfire. MG Motor has confirmed that the M9 will be brought to India via the CKD (completely knocked down) route and assembled locally. This approach could allow the company to price the vehicle competitively, with an expected ex-showroom price range between Rs 60 lakh and Rs 70 lakh.

Bookings for both the M9 and the Cyberster are already underway. The M9 is equipped with a 90 kWh battery pack, producing 245 bhp and 350 Nm of torque. It offers a WLTP-certified range of approximately 430 km on a single charge. Using a 120 kW DC fast charger, the battery can be charged from 30% to 90% in about 30 minutes.

The MG M9 features a seven-seat layout, with the second row offering reclining ottoman seats that come with eight massage modes. Additional comfort features include dual sunroofs, ventilated seats, and powered sliding rear doors. The interior follows a black and tan theme, complemented by soft-touch materials on the dashboard, doors, and centre console.
The dashboard design is minimalistic and includes dual screens and a two-spoke steering wheel. Other notable features include a floating touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 12-speaker sound system, a fully digital driver’s display, wireless phone charging, and a three-zone automatic climate control system.

In terms of safety, the M9 is expected to offer multiple airbags, front and rear parking sensors, disc brakes on all wheels, an electronic parking brake, and a 360-degree camera. It may also include a Level 2 advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) suite, featuring technologies such as adaptive cruise control and forward collision avoidance assist.
The launch of the M9 will be followed by the MG Cyberster and, later this year, the Majestor full-size SUV. With the addition of the M9 to its lineup, MG Motor aims to offer a premium, feature-rich electric MPV option for Indian consumers seeking sustainable mobility without compromising on luxury.
