TVS is set to launch a new budget-friendly electric scooter below the iQube range around September 2025. Expected to be priced around Rs 90,000, it may feature a 2.2 kWh battery and offer a range of 70–80 km on a single charge.

TVS Motor Company is preparing to expand its electric scooter lineup in the Indian market. As per fresh information, the two-wheeler manufacturer will launch a brand-new electric scooter around September 2025. This new model is expected to be an affordable alternative placed below the iQube range.
TVS already ranks among the top three electric scooter makers in the country, and this new addition is expected to further boost its market presence. Positioned below the iQube in the brand’s EV portfolio, the upcoming scooter could carry an ex-showroom price starting around Rs 90,000. For comparison, the iQube currently starts at approximately Rs 1 lakh for the 2.2 kWh variant and goes up to Rs 2 lakh for the top-end version with a 5.1 kWh battery.
Compact Battery, Basic Features
Reports suggest the new electric scooter will likely use a 2.2 kWh battery pack or possibly a smaller unit, offering a range between 70 and 80 km per charge. It is also expected to feature a Bosch-sourced hub-mounted motor, similar to the iQube. Given its budget positioning, the scooter is likely to get a minimal design and basic set of features.
The official name of this new scooter has not been confirmed yet. However, speculation indicates that it could be called the ‘Jupiter EV’, leveraging the existing popularity of the Jupiter badge. For reference, TVS has also showcased the Jupiter CNG version earlier this year at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025.
Another possibility being considered is an electric version of the XL moped. The company has recently filed patents for the names ‘XL EV’ and ‘E-XL’, hinting that the new electric scooter could be inspired by the XL100 platform. The XL100 is currently the most affordable petrol-powered two-wheeler in the country, and its electric counterpart could carry the same value-driven positioning.
Part of a Broader Product Strategy
TVS has an aggressive product roadmap for 2025. Along with the new electric scooter, the company is planning to introduce the RTX 300 adventure motorcycle and a larger 150cc version of the Ntorq scooter in the coming months. TVS began its EV journey with the launch of the iQube in 2020 and has seen significant growth since then. As of May 2025, the company reached the top position in electric scooter sales with monthly volumes nearing 20,000 units.
The company also sells the X electric scooter, deliveries of which began in early 2024 after its launch in August 2023. The upcoming entry-level electric scooter is expected to strengthen TVS’ presence in the EV space and attract cost-conscious buyers looking for a reliable electric two-wheeler.
Launch Timeline and Market Positioning
The new electric scooter is expected to debut just ahead of the 2025 festive season, targeting the peak buying period. With a price tag in the range of Rs 90,000 to Rs 1 lakh (ex-showroom), it is positioned to compete in the growing budget EV segment. TVS aims to strike a balance between affordability and functionality, offering a product that can appeal to a wider audience without compromising the brand’s reputation for quality.
More information about the model, including its name, final specs, and features, is expected to be revealed in the coming weeks as the launch nears.
