Nissan Magnite CNG Launched at ₹6.89 Lakh; Bookings Start June 1 in Select States

Nissan has officially introduced the much-awaited CNG variant of the Magnite, priced from ₹6.89 lakh and going up to ₹10.02 lakh (ex-showroom). The CNG model will be available for bookings starting June 1, 2025, through authorised Nissan dealerships across seven states — Delhi-NCR, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Kerala, and Karnataka.

With this launch, Nissan adds a new alternative fuel option to the Magnite lineup, offering a factory-approved retrofit CNG kit developed by Motozen. The kit adds ₹75,000 to the cost of the petrol variant and will be fitted at government-authorised centres. Importantly, it will come with a standard 3-year/1 lakh km warranty, similar to the petrol versions.

The Magnite CNG will be powered by the 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine only, which produces 71 bhp and 96 Nm of torque. It comes paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. This means the turbo-petrol version of the Magnite, which delivers 99 bhp and 160 Nm, will not be offered with a CNG option at this stage.

At present, the 1.0 NA engine is offered in six different variants, and all six will get the CNG kit option, increasing their price by ₹75,000 over the regular petrol models.

While Nissan has yet to disclose the certified fuel efficiency figure for the CNG variant, it has confirmed that the boot will house a 12-kg cylinder. Even with the cylinder in place, the company claims there is still enough space left for a large suitcase along with a couple of small bags, ensuring that luggage practicality isn’t entirely compromised.

Interestingly, current Magnite owners are also eligible to upgrade to CNG via the retrofit option. However, Nissan has made it clear that this recommendation is limited to the facelifted version of the SUV. The pre-facelift models, although technically compatible, have not been tested thoroughly with the kit, and the brand advises against retrofitting those vehicles for now.

Phase 1 of the rollout covers only seven states, but Nissan plans to expand retrofit CNG kit availability through its dealerships to more regions in a phased manner. This approach is expected to strengthen the Magnite’s position as a value-driven offering in the entry-level compact SUV segment, especially for budget-conscious buyers looking for fuel efficiency and lower running costs.
