Royal Enfield has resumed bookings for the Scram 440 after resolving ignition issues linked to the Woodruff Key. Priced from ₹2.08 lakh, the bike returns with its 443cc engine, alloy wheels, and city-friendly practicality.

Royal Enfield has quietly resumed sales of the Scram 440 in India, just a few months after the motorcycle was temporarily pulled off shelves due to a mechanical issue. Launched in January 2025 as the successor to the Scram 411, the Scram 440 brought several upgrades, including a larger 443cc engine, a new 6-speed gearbox, alloy wheels, refreshed colour options, and other refinements aimed at both city riders and touring enthusiasts.
However, shortly after launch, several buyers began experiencing starting troubles. While the issue wasn’t widespread, some owners reported that the bike would fail to start after being turned off, and in some cases, it stalled mid-ride and couldn’t be restarted. The problem was traced back to a malfunction involving the Woodruff Key in the magneto assembly — a component that plays a key role in the ignition system by securing the magneto in place. To avoid customer inconvenience, Royal Enfield promptly halted sales and began working on a fix.
According to a report by Autocar India, the company has now resolved the issue and resumed bookings and test rides for the Scram 440. Though an official communication from Royal Enfield is still awaited, dealerships have started offering the motorcycle once again, indicating that the updated units have passed necessary checks. The unsold stock from earlier has reportedly been sent back to the factory for rectification and will now be available for sale.

While availability remains limited at the moment, production is expected to ramp up in the coming weeks. The Scram 440 continues to be positioned above Royal Enfield’s 350cc models and below the new Sherpa 450 platform used in the Guerrilla 450 and Himalayan 450. It is well-suited for those looking for a practical, tall motorcycle that balances city usability with mild off-road potential.
The bike is powered by a 443cc air/oil-cooled engine that delivers 25.4 bhp and 34 Nm of peak torque. It comes paired with a 6-speed gearbox equipped with a slip-and-assist clutch. Higher variants feature alloy wheels and switchable ABS, enhancing both performance and safety. Designed with practicality in mind, the Scram 440 remains a compelling option for urban riders.
