Although Toyota has not disclosed the full powertrain details, reports suggest that the bZ7 will likely utilize BYD’s Blade lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery technology, which Toyota has already incorporated in other electric models like the bZ3 sedan. This collaboration with BYD’s advanced powertrain components is expected to enhance the bZ7’s performance.

In addition to the bZ7, the 2025 Auto Shanghai also saw the debut of the all-electric Lexus ES. This new model signals the start of a fresh era for Lexus’s electrified offerings, inspired by the LF-ZC concept. The ES BEV is designed to deliver superior comfort, ample rear-seat space, and top-tier in-cabin features, positioning it as a competitive option in the growing luxury EV market in China.

Toyota’s focus on the Chinese market is evident in these launches, as the region continues to lead in EV adoption. The company’s commitment to producing vehicles locally reflects its strategy to offer a diverse range of powertrains, including hybrids, plug-in hybrids, full battery electrics, and hydrogen-powered fuel cell vehicles, to meet the evolving needs of global customers. The introduction of models like the bZ7 and Lexus ES BEV further solidifies Toyota’s stance in the highly competitive EV landscape.
