Toyota has introduced the Land Cruiser 300 Hybrid with a 3.5L twin-turbo V6 and electric motor, delivering 457hp and 790Nm. It gets updated styling, new tech, and improved off-road capability.

Toyota has officially introduced a hybrid version of its flagship SUV, the Land Cruiser 300 Series. Unveiled in select Middle Eastern markets, the LC 300 Hybrid marks the first time the full-size SUV is being offered with an electrified powertrain. The hybrid version is expected to reach more international markets in the coming months.

Under the hood, the new Land Cruiser 300 Hybrid features a 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 petrol engine paired with a single electric motor in a parallel hybrid configuration. This setup produces a combined output of 457 hp and 790 Nm of peak torque—making it the most powerful version of the Land Cruiser to date. For comparison, the standard V6 petrol version delivers 403 hp and 650 Nm. Power continues to be transmitted through a 10-speed automatic gearbox, and the hybrid motor is positioned between the engine and transmission unit.

The LC 300 Hybrid is built on Toyota’s TNGA-F body-on-frame platform, shared with models like the Lexus LX 700h, Toyota Tundra, and Sequoia. The SUV retains its off-road credentials, featuring full-time all-wheel drive, a low-range transfer case, and a water wading depth of 700mm. Toyota has also waterproofed the transmission to protect the hybrid motor system during off-road or water crossings.
However, the addition of hybrid tech has brought some changes. The fuel tank capacity has been slightly reduced to 68 litres compared to 80 litres in the standard petrol variant. On the upside, Toyota claims the hybrid version offers better towing capability than the outgoing diesel-powered model.

Design updates on the LC 300 Hybrid are subtle but distinguishable. The front bumper gets a revised look with increased black detailing around the fog lamp area and lower surfaces. The tailgate sports the ‘HEV’ badge, in line with Toyota’s other strong hybrids, along with a blue circle accent to signify the electrified powertrain. Side fenders also feature a ‘457 TT’ badge indicating the twin-turbo 457 horsepower setup.

The SUV is being offered in the UAE in two trims – GR Sport and VXR. The GR Sport variant is more off-road focused, equipped with 18-inch alloy wheels and rugged bumpers, while the VXR trim adds 20-inch alloy wheels, chrome highlights, a redesigned air intake, and a tweaked front bumper for a more premium look.

Inside, the Land Cruiser 300 Hybrid gets the latest 12.3-inch full-digital instrument cluster with hybrid-specific displays, introduced as part of the model year 2025 update. The central infotainment unit remains unchanged, but Toyota has added a 1,500-watt power outlet in the boot for powering external appliances, along with a 220V AC inverter for added practicality.

With the debut of the hybrid LC 300, Toyota takes a significant step forward in electrifying its iconic off-road SUV lineup. While maintaining the ruggedness the Land Cruiser is known for, the new hybrid variant adds modern tech, more power, and improved capability, all while moving towards a more fuel-efficient and environmentally conscious future.
