Volkswagen India recently made headlines with the launch of the Tiguan R-Line, and soon after, opened bookings for the highly anticipated Golf GTI. However, in a surprising move, the brand has now shut bookings for the performance hatch even before announcing its official price.
Volkswagen Golf GTI: Bookings Closed Before Price Reveal
For those eagerly waiting to get their hands on the upcoming Golf GTI, there’s some disappointment. Volkswagen has officially closed bookings for the limited-run hot hatch. The model is being brought to India via the CBU (Completely Built-Up) route, which was always going to limit its availability. Initially, expectations were set for 250 units, but the final number was restricted to just 150 units for the first batch.
Adding a twist to the booking process, Volkswagen launched an interactive quiz that required interested customers to answer five questions, scoring at least four correct answers to proceed with the booking. The unique format drew strong interest, and all 150 units have now been reserved.

Is There Still a Chance to Book the GTI?
Although bookings are currently closed, not all hope is lost. Since the price of the Golf GTI is yet to be announced, there remains a possibility that some slots could reopen. It’s not uncommon for early bookings to change as the launch date nears, so buyers might still get another opportunity when the pricing is revealed.
As for pricing expectations, the Volkswagen Golf GTI is likely to be positioned above ₹55 lakh (ex-showroom).
