The Volkswagen Tayron has secured a 5-star safety rating in the latest Euro NCAP crash tests, making it one of the most secure vehicles in its class. With impressive scores across all test categories, the upcoming SUV strengthens its appeal among safety-conscious family buyers. Volkswagen’s ongoing focus on “Safety for All” is clearly reflected in the Tayron’s overall performance, where it recorded excellent ratings for adult and child occupant protection, pedestrian safety, and driver assistance technologies.

Adult Occupant Protection

In the Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) category, the Tayron earned an impressive 87 percent. During the frontal offset impact tests, the SUV displayed stable structural integrity. Crash test dummies showed good protection for vital areas like the femur and knees of front-seat occupants. The vehicle also held up well against the impact trolley, indicating that it provides robust internal protection, though there could be a slight risk for external occupants in certain front-end collisions.

Side impact protection was another highlight. The Tayron scored full points in the side barrier test, ensuring strong protection for passengers’ vital areas. In the more demanding side pole test, chest protection was rated as marginal but still acceptable for the segment.

Child Occupant Protection

For Child Occupant Protection, the Tayron scored a solid 85 percent. The test results confirm that the SUV offers excellent safety for younger passengers. ISOFIX anchor points are provided on all rear seats and even the front passenger seat, all compatible with i-Size child seats. Additionally, the front passenger airbag can be manually deactivated, making it possible to install rear-facing child seats safely.

Vulnerable Road Users

In the Vulnerable Road Users category, which assesses safety for pedestrians and cyclists, the Tayron scored 83 percent. Its Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) system responded effectively in most test scenarios, providing good protection to vital areas such as the knees, femur, and pelvis. However, the system had some limitations when it came to detecting pedestrians at the rear of the vehicle, an area where improvements can still be made.
