Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. has announced a significant leadership transition, naming Kirti Ganorkar as the next Managing Director, effective September 1, 2025. This move is part of a well-structured succession planning process and remains subject to shareholder approval at the upcoming Annual General Meeting.
Ganorkar will succeed Dilip Shanghvi, who will continue as Executive Chairman, focusing on strategic initiatives and the company’s growing specialty portfolio. As MD, Ganorkar will oversee all business operations and functions globally.

Having joined Sun Pharma in 1996, Kirti Ganorkar brings nearly three decades of diverse experience within the organisation. He is currently heading Sun Pharma’s India Business, a role he has held since mid-2019. During his tenure, the company has achieved consistent growth in the domestic market, further strengthening its position and market share.
Throughout his long association with the company, Ganorkar has contributed significantly across multiple strategic areas, including business development, product launches, M&A, marketing, IP, and litigation. He has also played a pivotal role in Sun Pharma’s expansion into international markets, driving its initial entry into Japan and laying the foundation for its European presence. He was instrumental in advancing the U.S. generics business and helped shape Sun Pharma’s focus on specialty pharmaceuticals, notably securing key products such as Ilumya.
