The upcoming Apple Watch Series 11, anticipated for release in September 2025, is expected to feature a significant design overhaul inspired by visionOS, Apple’s operating system for its Vision Pro headset. This redesign aims to introduce a more transparent and floating interface, with refreshed icons, menus, and buttons that align with the aesthetics of iOS 19 and macOS 16.
In addition to the visual enhancements, watchOS 12 is rumored to bring advanced health features, including blood pressure monitoring and hypertension detection, potentially limited to newer hardware like the Series 11. The integration of Apple Intelligence is also expected, offering improved Siri capabilities and AI-driven functions, although older Apple Watch models may not support the full range of new features.
The Series 11 is also anticipated to include new watch faces designed to take advantage of the larger display and faster refresh rates, providing users with a more dynamic and personalized experience.
Looking ahead, Apple is reportedly developing future Apple Watch models equipped with built-in cameras to enable advanced AI features like Visual Intelligence. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, these camera-equipped watches are expected to launch no earlier than 2027. The standard Series models may feature cameras embedded within the display, while the Apple Watch Ultra could have a camera positioned near the digital crown and side button .
Visual Intelligence, introduced with the iPhone 16 series, allows devices to analyze objects and text using AI models. On the Apple Watch, this feature would enable users to receive contextual information by pointing their wrist at objects, such as identifying landmarks or scanning restaurant details.
Apple aims to transition from relying on external AI models to developing its own in-house AI models to power these features by 2027 . This initiative is part of Apple’s broader strategy to integrate AI capabilities across its wearable devices, including potential camera-equipped AirPods.
