HONOR is gearing up to unveil its next-gen foldable flagship, the Magic V5, on July 2 in China. The upcoming device is already attracting attention for what appears to be a record-breaking design, with a leaked promotional poster confirming it will be the world’s thinnest foldable smartphone.

According to the official poster spotted on Weibo, the Magic V5 measures just 8.8mm when folded, beating the OPPO Find N5, which stands at 8.9mm in its folded form. While HONOR hasn’t revealed the exact unfolded thickness, the Magic V5 is widely expected to come in slimmer than the Find N5’s 4.2mm, potentially setting a new benchmark in the foldable space.

Camera details have also surfaced through the poster, showing a triple-lens setup. The Magic V5 is expected to feature a 50MP primary camera, an ultra-wide lens, and a 200MP periscope telephoto camera, suggesting serious imaging capabilities in a compact foldable form.

The Magic V5 is not only setting records in thinness but is also competing for the title of lightest foldable phone. It is expected to weigh less than 219 grams, although it now faces tough competition from the upcoming Vivo X Fold 5, which reportedly weighs around 209 grams and measures just 4.3mm when unfolded.

Another major rival, Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold7, is rumored to feature a significantly thinner profile, possibly between 3.9mm and 4.5mm when unfolded. The Fold7 will also benefit from a redesigned hinge that helps reduce its total weight to approximately 215 grams. However, despite its slim and lightweight form factor, Samsung is likely to retain the 4,400mAh battery used in the Z Fold6, which could put it at a disadvantage in terms of endurance.

In contrast, the HONOR Magic V5 is rumored to be powered by a massive 6,100mAh battery — the largest ever seen on a foldable smartphone. It will support 66W wired fast charging, and although wireless charging hasn’t been confirmed in the latest leak, it’s likely to retain 50W wireless charging support from the previous generation.
