Samsung is reportedly partnering with Perplexity AI to preload its smart assistant on the Galaxy S26 series. The deal could also bring Perplexity’s AI features to Bixby and Samsung’s web browser, with an official announcement expected soon.

Samsung is reportedly in talks with AI startup Perplexity to bring its AI-powered assistant to future Galaxy smartphones. If things go as planned, the Galaxy S26 series might be the first to ship with the Perplexity AI app and assistant preinstalled right out of the box.
According to a Bloomberg report, the two companies have been in discussions over a broader partnership that could go beyond just bundling the app. Samsung is also said to be exploring ways to integrate Perplexity’s AI into its own ecosystem, including Bixby and the Samsung Internet browser. There’s also word that Samsung may invest in Perplexity during its next funding round, which aims to raise $500 million at a valuation of $14 billion.
Talks reportedly began back in April and have now moved closer to a deal. If finalized, Samsung could roll out these AI features as the default assistant experience on its upcoming Galaxy S26 lineup, expected in early 2026.

The partnership could give Bixby a much-needed boost by merging it with Perplexity’s smart search and conversational capabilities. There’s also talk about developing a new app focused on AI agents — tools that could tap into Perplexity’s engine or work alongside other assistants.
Perplexity has also been busy on its own. The company recently launched Perplexity Labs, a new tool designed to help users manage and explore data more easily. It can take complex research tasks, run web searches, write code, and even generate charts and dashboards — all powered by its generative AI engine. The idea is to let users go from a simple prompt to a full project with minimal effort.

Perplexity Labs is currently available on Android, iOS, and web browsers. Desktop versions for Windows and Mac are on the way. The feature is part of Perplexity Pro, which costs $20 a month.
If Samsung goes ahead with the plan, it could be a big move in the AI space — one that not only reduces the company’s reliance on Google, but also puts more advanced AI tools directly in users’ hands.
As of now, the deal isn’t official, and details could still change. But if everything lines up, the Perplexity AI app and assistant will likely make their debut on the Galaxy S26 series when it launches early next year.
