Sony has officially unveiled its latest flagship smartphone, the Xperia 1 VII, in Europe. The new model brings a mix of powerful hardware and Sony’s signature camera tech, featuring the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, Android 15, and a triple rear camera setup backed by Alpha camera technologies. It also comes with a 5,000mAh battery, fast charging support, and notable audio enhancements.

The Xperia 1 VII is priced at GBP 1,399 (approximately Rs. 1,57,500) for the 12GB RAM + 256GB storage variant. It is available in three colour options — Slate Black, Moss Green, and Orchid Purple — and is currently up for pre-order across European markets. The phone will go on sale starting June 4, 2025, in select countries including the UK and Europe.

Xperia 1 VII Specifications and Features

The dual SIM smartphone (nano + eSIM) runs Android 15, and Sony has promised four OS updates and six years of security patches. The Xperia 1 VII sports a 6.5-inch Full-HD+ OLED HDR display with a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels, 120Hz refresh rate, 240Hz touch scanning, and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection. Sony has used its Bravia tuning to boost colour accuracy and brightness, adding a light sensor to both the front and rear to improve viewing in bright environments.

Under the hood, it’s powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite 3nm platform, paired with 12GB LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB UFS 4.0 internal storage, expandable up to 2TB via microSD card. It also includes vapor chamber cooling for improved thermal management.

The Xperia 1 VII features a triple rear camera system consisting of:

  • A 48MP 1/1.35-inch Exmor T sensor with f/1.9 aperture and 24mm focal length
  • A 12MP periscope telephoto lens (85mm–170mm) with up to 7.1x optical zoom
  • A new 48MP ultra-wide sensor (1/1.56-inch, 16mm), which is 2.1 times larger than its predecessor and also supports macro photography up to 5cm

This camera array supports 4K 120fps HDR video, 30fps burst shots with AF/AE, Real-Time Eye AF for humans and animals, and AI-assisted Auto Framing that keeps moving subjects in the centre of the frame.

On the front, the phone has a 12MP selfie camera with a wide 84° field of view and 4K recording capabilities.

Audio and Multimedia

Staying true to Sony’s audio legacy, the Xperia 1 VII includes components inspired by its Walkman lineup. It has stereo Full-Stage speakers, 3.5mm audio jack, and supports Dolby Atmos, DSEE Ultimate, LDAC, aptX HD, and 360 Reality Audio. Whether using wired or wireless headphones, users can expect high-resolution sound quality.
